Theres a Red/White wire and a White/Red wire on the dimmer switch wire harness. They both seem to serve the same purpose.

I did a complete lighting change on my 5th gen. the warm orange bulbs to blue LED's. I did red LED's for the gauge needles and have the standard EL guage faces. The blue LED's don't work well with the stock gauge faces because A) you would need like 20 or some way to mount them because the light pattern in an LED is different than that in a bulb and B) they have an orange tint that makes the blue look funny when you shine it through. just remember when you do LED's that just about every button is going to need it's own individual bulb.

i just wanted to change the color to something that would match the red in my stereo, i just don't like having ten different colors shining at me, is it a fairly easy job if you just keep hologen bulbs, and where would i find them? (as in the new bulbs not where in the car)

if you are going with just red the job is fairly easy. it requires taking some stuff out but it's only about 8 screws total. you would have to remove the climate control unit (be careful with the air mix control cable not to brake it, you have to pull it off of the mechanism under the passenger side dash), the instrument cluster (just remove the trim panels *carefully* and pull the unit right out) and then last will be the sunroof dimmer cruise control switches (the whole unit should pop right out but take it slow so not to tear up the dash) on the back or sides of each unit or switch will be the bulb holder (most twist out or have a screw driver type backing to twist out. to get that red color you are going to need some bulb covers (look like a blub condom) most of the buttons have an orange filter lens in the front cover but you shouldn't have to mess with that if you are going with red.

other bulbs that you might want to consider but don't need to.
-clock, it is an LCD display so you have three options
1) unplug it and leave it off (this is what I did)
2) replace it with another electronic device (I am going to get a
radar detector and place the remote control unit there so it
mounts flush
3) write to Honda asking them to make a blue clock (why not?)

-the ash try right behind the shifter (unless you are fourth gen
and then I don't know if it has a light) - you need to take the
armest console out to get to it

-the light in the auto down window switch (this is my last one to
replace and I am waiting till I have a more useful reason to take
off my doors i.e. speakers)

if you just do the main units it should take you less than an hour to pop all three parts out and put in the bulb covers. if you are a stickler and want to go all out try the clock ash tray and window switches. you can probably find the bulb covers at your local autozone, oreilly's or whatever you guys go to to buy all the stuff you go to buy for your prelude.

I was installing the glo gauges and kinda had to force it over my dials. now the inner ring is somewhat damaged and is keeping my dial from moving, am i screwed or can i fix the gauge? the dial works fine with out the gauge around it, but with it on the needle get stuck because of the inner ring being some what messed up

great info elan thanks, lol i already broke the ac cable on a previous job (actually it's just jamed somewhere i can't reach) so i got good at reaching onder the glove box and changing the temp from there. i didn't know there was a bulb in the window switch, i would have changed it when i put my CF inserts in (btw the cloth mesh over the speakers just pops off as it's own piece if you are doing speakers, so no need to take the door apart for that.

the same thing happened to my dials. I found the best way was to lift them up a little bit and take a hobby knife and kind of scrape the inside smooth. There usually isn't any glow material right under the needle and all you are doing is taking off the little bit of coating that got mangled and bent up. Double Sided tape also helps in securing your gauge faces down. Otherwise they will flex up in spots and not permitt the needle to move.
