You need not worry about the dizzy. It's only true for some engine swaps. I've got my stock 1997 h22 ecu converted from obd2 to obd1 with hondata and everything works great.

if you want you can make that obd1 engine into an obd2. all you have to do is swap over the oil pump and distributor with the external coil from your 97 engine and you'll be fine. its best to make these changes before you put the new engine in the car.

obd 1 is more tuner friendly. obd 2 is a learning system. it will take what you have done to the engine and eventually adjust everything to take you back to stock settings. gay i know. so its best to go from obd 2 to obd 1. i found a link to a conversion harness while surfing a while back. http://www.kingmotorsports.com/category.aspx?cat=4
hope this helps bro

what I was suggesting will make the engine swap a hole lot easier. if he does not change the oil pump and the dist. he will have to run his own crank sensor wires and its not as simple as it sounds. these are the two things I and most of the h22 community will suggest doing.
then, if he wants to get a obd2a to obd1 conversion then that's fine. just make the engine itself obd2.

yes obd1 is better than obd2. but it's a hell of a lot easier engine swap if you change the oil pump and distributor and coil to obd2. he won't have to mess with the wiring harness at all. I did not say to use an obd2 ecu. just suggested things to make the swap go smoother on him.

If he doesn't change the oil pump and the distributor he will run into this problem:

I'm trying to stop him from going through this....

i had the same issue when i did my swap. what the problem is ...
your crank position sensor and timing position sensor was at the crank pulley on your obd2 motor. your obd1 motor it has those sensors built into the distributor. if you notice on an obd1 distributor on of the plugs has 8 wires opposed to the 4 wires in an obd1. what i did... looked in the helms manual for wires colors... ran the four extra wire directly to the ecu. i have not had a single problem yet.. just be neat and wire loom and solder and tape.... you should be fine.
