My chance to get a 2nd gen, should i do it?

alright i know a kid that is selling his 2nd gen but it's in pretty bad shape, it's an 86 Si 5 speed and it runs good and everything but the outside looks like ****, interior is crap, and the suspension is gone (literally). he wants 800$ for it, should i do it? Oh and it has teggy fat fives on it so i could easiely turn around and sell those for like 250 and get some money back.

o my.....honestly..but if its running well maybe. but i would want to avoid the hassle of sellin the wheels etc..

would he take a counter offer? cause i wouldnt want to pay more than like 600...preferably 500 for it...

then selling the wheels would be worth it...i dunno..thats just me..if you want a project car then sures why not

well i dont really want another project car because honestly there's already too many of them in my yard already, but on the other hand it is a 2nd gen and i want one, but i haven't really asked him about coming down on the price, he might but i dont know

oh and selling those wheels here would be easy, almost every kid with a civic around here wants a set a GSRs for it for some reason

Buy that 2nd gen for $500 no more.

Turn around sell those fat-5's for $250.

$250 goes into fixing up that a20 or a18(whichever is under there).

Interesting he has a DX front end on it.

Check for rust, if it has rust it's worthless. Other than that, I bet it would be an easy car to restore nicely. Get a rear spoiler, the bolts to get that bumper on right. (Or maybe grab an SI bumper). You'll need a grill too, those emblems aren't easy to come by either. Polish those phat fives and throw some "H" center caps on.

Cosmetically that should bring up it's appearance externally dramatically. (lotta ly in that last sentence!! haha) You say in runs good, that's excellent a lot less to worry about. But things always break down with these cars and it gets frustrating. . .

However, many second genners love their cars to death. I've read about a couple who have lost their Preludes one way or another. One bought a 4th gen with 4ws. He claimed his old 2g handled way better. Another bought a 5th gen, don't remember the model but it was the 215+hp model, JDM. Yet he still says he misses his old 2g. I of course love mine to death, I could never part with it.

As for the price. . .600 no more.

In my opinion that is what a true enthusiast is...build from the bottom up and you will love and enjoy your baby that much more! The moral of the story is if you give love then you'll get love back...

i woulda done it...my cars got nice interior and the engines got a few things needing to be replaced and the body is shot but i only paid 650 for mine and thats from a dealer who wanted a grand...so i guess i made out pretty good
