Just curious, how much were your car payments? We paid $400 a month for 5 rotten years. It was a used '91 black prelude that we bought in '92. So did your payment kill you?

I can't believe some of the prices so of you paid for a 91-ish Prelude. I paid like 700-900 dollars for a 4ws 88 Prelude in Japan when I was stationed there in the Navy, in 1999, off of a used car lot, mind you. I also bought another one almost identical to it back here in the states, in 2001 but it has auto and no 4ws for 500 bucks. You guys are morons. Both of my Preludes were in very good condition when I bought them, too. I guess the old saying, "A fool and his money are soon parted", still holds true today.

That's a bit harsh and unfriendly dude, calling us morons for paying more then what you did. Maybe in some countries and areas it's a lot easier to find cheap cars, but here in Australia it's not that easy considering most 3rd gen prelude are going for $2k-$3k minimum AUD, and for one in great top condition your looking at about $7k-$8k AUD max.

I'm not saying anything about Australia. I know where you are is different. I've been to Australia. I've dealt with the Australian to American conversion. I was in the U.S. Navy for 8 years. I went to Perth and Sydney. I'm talking about some of these guys over here in the states that have paid a couple thousand or more for a 3G. That's insane. I don't care how good a condition it's in. Blue book value is blue book value. It won't change. It's the worst I've ever seen people try to resell a used care down south. People always want a couple thousand for a car that's only worth 5-7 hundred dollars. You never get out what you paid for it, simple as that. I just looked at Kelly Blue Book that's here in the states, and for what's all up with my car, it says private party value is $1,155.00. I'd never ask that because, although it's a good running car, it needs some work. I might ask a thousand for it, but that doesn't mean I'd get it. I was harsh talking smack about some of these guys paying too much, but like I said, they're not always worth wait they paid for them. You have to be smart when you buy a car, whether it's new or used. You might buy a car for a couple of grand, and find out that later on, it needs about 3 or 4 grand to get it back to good shape again, because you didn't know what all was wrong with it before. That's why you bring someone along who knows what he's looking for. I've been a mechanic off and on since high school, and working full time as a mechanic for the past 5 years. I'm 31, now. I know pretty well, what I'm looking at on a car.

yeah I have the same problem with the seat. May try to get the bolster reupholstered someday. I paid $2,250 for mine, a 91si w/4ws off of ebay spring of 2003. It was suppose to be $2,500 but when I drove 900 miles south to alabama to pick it up it had a cracked windsheild almost all the way across that wasn't mentioned in ebay auction. Also has a small dent in passenger rocker. He settled which was good being 900 miles from home and spending about $500 round trip including gas and hotel 2 nites. Love it! No more cracked windsheild either. Totaly rust free alabama style inlcluding disfunctional a/c but that will soon be totally overhauled by me already got the parts!

I bought my 99 lude in 02 w/ 54k mi on her. my payment was supposed to be 400/mo for 5 years...... She was perfect though and it took me forever to find exactly what I wanted. So I didn't mind paying a little extra for her.
currently the car has 103k mi, the powertrain has 3k mi......lol
