okay... my cat touches my heat shield and i trimmed it a bit.. so it wouldnt touch anymore...
but i was just curious... does the heat shield above the cat and exhaust serve a purpose..? or can it just be removed..

It's a heat shield..... That explains it all. lol
It keeps your center console from warming up. And yes.. it will warm up with out it.

Well .. there is really no damage... But i would not remove it. It gets really hot inside and the car soaks all the heat. Its not cool. If you can bend it.. Just bend it. But i would not completely remove it.

i took mine completely off as soon is it started rattling like 4 months after i bought the car.
i noticed zero difference in interior temperatures
THats odd cause i ran open exhuast from the down pipe and i noticed a difference...

open exhaust as in no exhaust whatsoever after the downpipe?? thats gotta be hot as BALLSS!!
but no where even close as to simply removing the heat shield off the cat
lol.. Yea.. NO EXHUAST.. lol... but i got one now.. lol

my heat shield rattles like a bastard. i has since i got the car i'm just too lazy to crawl underthere and fix it. it even rattles when i shut the door. makes my car sound like a POS, good for the sleeper image lol

Mine was fine till I ran over a shrub over a year ago and its all bent up now. I need to trim it but ain't ever got time.

What I did was take mine off and replace it with the dinamat for the underside of your hood and its fine.

They make some thats for the underside of a hood thats for heat
