I have a si 4ws 93 prelude. I was wondering if I can swap the H23 with the H22, and still be able to keep my 4ws.

why not just swap in the h22 head?
why not just swap in the h22 head?
Hard on rod bearings.
Frankenstin motors have short life because rods and bearings are not torqued to the spec of a Vtec Motor. If you retorque motor to Vtec specs. You should last alot longer.

yes, that's what I heard with the frankenstein. I also know that parts for the h22 is generally cheaper and easier to find so i might as well swap the whole thing. Thnx for the feedback, much appreciated.

the 4ws control unit is separate from the ecu. so get your p13 and be done with it.

most people say its a bad combination of the r/s ratio. The stroke is so long and the rods are shorter than h22 rods, you have to choose your piston wisely.
i have a r/s ratio of 1.51 in my h23vtec motor. Guy i know on HT has an even lower r/s ratio with cast type S pistons and factory shot peened rods revving to 8500 for 2 years. Bearing clearances mean everything.
as far as the torque specs, i have never heard of that before. alot of engines run the same kind of torque specs for similar parts.

a guide on this "reliable" h23 frankenstein would be nice

You right. A/F ratio is always a big thing. But if you gonna change the head on a block. You should get a tune.
All my cars were tuned sooo...

i was talking about rod/stroke ratio

wow! 98vtec 1.51 is a little low on r/s don't you think? but it's like what you said. You have choose your pistons very carefully. I remember calculating the r/s of the h22 a LLLLLLOOOOONNNNGGGGGGGGG time ago and I don't remember it being that low. good luck with the build.

"OEM 95mm H23 crank, OEM shot peened H23 rods, R/S ratio is 1.490, reving to about 8500 rpm for over 2 years with 0 problems"
he has a similar build as i do.
