Hey everyone I have been thinking about buying the Tanabe Madalion Hyper exhaust. I like how it doesn't sound raspy and it has a small stock looking tip. Thing is tho for $460 it's 2 1/4" piping and I was thinking about bumping up to to 2 1/2". I'm staying NA, unless I feel like putting on a 75 shot, but my question is before I waste anymore money should I buy the Tanabe or do another custom exhaust (like I did with my Magnaflow) with 2 1/2" piping? I'm going to get ride of the Magnaflow muffler if I do b/c I want that clean stock look(my Magnaflow has like a 4" tip). So if going custom would be ideal, I'd like some opinions. One thing that's in the back of my mind is I know I will eventually get a RMF header and it has a 2 1/2" collector
thanks

I'd go with the custom 2 1/2 piping. Although the Tanabe is 2 1/4 its Mandrel bent. The custom exhaust you get done from the shop won't be. Thats something to think about. But its all in what you like. Me personally though right now I have a custom 2 1/4 exhaust. Its fine but i want mandrel bent so i will be gettin another exhaust system. No time soon though.

what would be the advantage with the Mandrel bent over the shops custom job? Just curious b/c I never thought about that. I jsut don't want to be in this same situation another yr from now. I did 3 custom exhaust and the all seem to go the same way. The shop doesn't put flanges on the piping and they just solid weld it like one piece so to say and everytime a swap was done I had to cut it at the down pipe. I would finally like to do it right the first time so to speak.

If you get the Tanabe exhaust system, it will surely be stainless steel.
I love the unique Tanabe exhaust note, it does sound different from everyone else's. Though, i cannot lie, Tanabe is LOUD and echoes down city blocks
Your shop probably does "crush" bending compared to "mandrel" bending. Pretty much the same desired effect IMO. . .
One thing that everyone overlooks in doing custom exhaust, is the MUFFLER. The muffler is the main culprit in sound, backflow/pressure & your taste. :yo:

mendral bends will give u better flowof gases, even though the headers have a 2.5 collector you will be able to weld on a reducer for the exhaust, i would say get the mandrel bended tanabe and the 2.25, ya it will be louder but the exhaust flow will be better = more power and from all i have read honda's perform better between 2.25 and 2.5 inch piping. anything bigger and it is not as effective. even turbo charged hondas run at most 2.5 inch piping, or if it is drag then they run open. plsu the tanabe will move from engine to engine if u get custom now u will have to change it again anyway. if the noise is a problem then u should get a reducer. I have the apex n1 on my car and a custom downpipe from the turbo if it wasnt for the "crush" downpipe my car would be rediculous loud, its loud as is but we dont have emtions or noise ordinances where i live.

well it depends on the muffler and the size of the pipe that makes up the rest of the exhaust, smaller stock pipes are quite but very restrictive run no exhaust very good for turbo cars higher horsepower, but very very loud. the muffler on the tanabe prob does a lot to reduce the noise level i think i know of one person who runs that type of exhaust it is more quiet then mine but most other exhausts are. thats all i can say, if you do end up getting it and it is too loud cut of the muffler and weld on another one that is quieter.

Mandrel Bent is the way to go. Simple as that. I would just go with the Apexi N1 cat-back system and be done with it.

Well yall learn from my mistake. Don't put Flowmaster muffler on your custom exhaust with no resonator, glasspack, or catalytic converter. And don't let them weld 1 hanger on your muffler tip. My tip is rattling and sounds so damn raspy and I can't take it off.

The Apexi N1 has a like 4" or bigger tip. I don't want to look ricey anymore with a big tip that's why I thought a smaller tip like the Tanabe or Apexi WS2 would be nicer. If I'd go with the Apexi N1 I think I'd just go with the Tsudo style b/c I heard it's mandrel bent, 2 1/2" piping and not to raspy.
This I guess is going to be a hard decission

See this N! clip sounds RASPY has hell.
Also if I get the Tanabe or Apexi ws2 I will most likely be using a Magnaflow highflow cat. Will this make the car sound raspier or deeper. I'm just curious what Highflow cat's do to the sound.
I have one that I had on my last swap with a Magnaflow muffler and it wasn't bad.
See I would like to stay has quite has i can

a bad high flow or cheap high flow will make it raspy i bet that clip the car has a test pipe or cheap high flow on it.

I wouldnt mine a rsr but it's about $100 more then the Tanabe or Apexi and that's kinda over my budget right now

if that is what u really want i would say save for it, why not save until u have enough so that u are making a decision with everything u have not just settleing for something that u dont want but that it is the only exhaust u can afford.
