I have been thinking about getting into Auto X for awhile and well I am doing alot of suspension work right now. What's good to have done to your suspension when you do this? For instance I didn't know if it was good to get a FRONT sway bar along with the rear (since I was going to order them fron Tanabe) when I know people who take the front sway bar's off b/c of under or over steer. One of those. I forget.
MY setup sofar:
Agx's
Eibach Sportlines
DC lower Tie bar
Aerospeed floor bar (I don't think it does anything)
EMRacing C pillar bar
Neuspeed upper front Strut bar
Also is my setup sofar good or should I rethink some of the parts I got?
Thanks

so far so good. though imo, lower tie bars don't do anything. you'll feel a big difference if you put on a good rear sway bar. so do that. you hit the nail on the head with the front sway bar. they increase understeer. for fwd, you want the traction up front and going through turns. increasing understeer means decreasing front traction.
you already have a set of good shocks and springs. get some good tires, good brake pads, and the rear sway. i would have gotten the rear sway before the front strut bar. but since you have it already, doesn't hurt to keep it on.

no matter how much money you spend on your car/suspension/engine, it'll never make up for a bad driver.
your money will best be spent on a racing school like bondurant, petty, etc etc where you actually learn how to DRIVE your car, instead of thinking you know how to race.
a perfect example is almost everytime i auto-x, there's this red '92 si 4ws on STOCK suspension, where as i'm slammed 2.25" with springs and struts. he only has intake and exhaust, whereas i have that, then header, plugs and wires, clutch, flywheel, and short shifter.
you know who's faster every single lap??
he is. by 2 seconds.
for right now, dont spend any more money on suspension cuz you think it'll make you better at autocrossing. the most important thing for you to get is experience/seat time. no matter how good of a driver you think you are, you're not gonna be competitive for the first couple seasons. just try to go to as many events as possible to get the most seat time possible.

yea, i forgot about classing too. thanks buck.
the more you mod your car, the harder/faster of a class you'll be put in. which means you = even less competitive
i just stopped caring about what class i was in, and did whatever i wanted to my car regardless of what class i'll be put in. why do you think i'm putting in a terbieee?? cuz i dont currrr :burnout: :burnout: :burnout: :burnout:

how so? if your car was completely stock, you would be in GS (G-stock) the higher the letter, harder the class. liike NSXs are AS.
idk what else you have done to the car other than 17's, but if you were race on them (which is a HORRRIBLEEE idea), you wouldn't be in the stock class anymore. you would be bumped into Street Touring-S (STS)

Why is that a bad idea? I don't have any other tires to run on. And my suspension has been redone. Sprigs, struts, strut bars, sway bars.

17's are big and heavy compared to say stock 15's. smaller wheels = less rotating mass and inertia = faster.
plus the sidewalls on the 17's are very stiff compared to sidewalls of 15's, and the softer sidewalls will have alot more "give" in the corners, as opposed to the 17's which willl just all of a sudden loose traction
and yea, you would be in STS with your mods. its a fun class :-)

That's awesome. I'm looking to get into autox too. As soon as my suspension are done i'm going there. Another thing i'm gonna do besides suspension is poly bushing all over. :-) can't wait!

are sport springs ok for auto x ? or should I reconsider coilovers
hotrod

if the springs you have are good, you don't need coilovers. coilovers are nice because you can adjust the dampening and height of the car (typically) with a twist of a knob. so you get to go from dd to auto-x with little effort.

now does everyone see why i want adjustable coilover SLEEVES?? i wanna dd my car and track on the weekend so i wanna be able to adjust the height

You don't need anything but a working car, helmet (many places have loaner helmets) and working arms to steer the car. Wouldn't hurt to know about tire pressures and to have an air compressor tank as well.

so this means 15" for our 4th gens is ideal for auto-x ? I'm looking into some 15 Hart CPF they are supose to be lite and forged.

I never auto-X before, that's why I ask ?'s about it and want to get into it, so where's the most power needed across the band for it? Midrange or high range? I want to build an auto-X purpose car by ditching my tired smoking usdm h22 w/ 268k mi and starting with a fresh Type S swap. I figure FI is out of the question for autoX. Any input would be great:wink:

You won't get up to speed quick enough or for long enough for a turbo to be efficient. N/A or Supercharger is definitely the best road to take for an autocross.
A track course, yeah a turbo would be great, except your engine might blow...
