Hi guys

Dont no if this thread is in the right place but anyway...Want im doing is installing new speakers in my 92 prelude. Ive found a problem while doing this-The new speakers are to deep and hit a piece of metal that is in the door, directly in the middle of the speaker whole. It looks to me like a support thing to hold door together in crash etc. Anyway, if you no what im talking about, would you recommend unbolting this and moving it to the side so that the new speaker will fit?

My next question is alternate mounting of these door speakers. If its unsafe to move that support beam i spoke of earler, then i will have to use the spacer that came with the speakers (there alpine). The spacer is one speacially for Honda's Quick Fit system, but i dont think prelude have this? As the spacer has clip that go into holes around speaker hole but there arnt any in mine. So if the first option doesnt work then i guess ill drill holes for the clips and then use the spacers. Any other way i havent thought of?

And finally, my new speakers are components, and im replcaing the old tweeters with new ones, and am guessing that there is a crossovers somewhere? If so can you direct me to where it is so i can replace it with my new ones, or if there isnt then advice on how to wire them up (ones that come with speakers).

Sorry for the huge questions  but i really need your help. Main thing i wont to know is is it safe to remove the support thing? Cheers guys

i wouldnt remove that....just return the speakers and get something with a smaller depth....if the spacer doesnt work

my suggestion is that if it doesnt fit get new speakers like absntmnd69 said. if u dont have enough clearance then the speaker will have interference with all the metal around it found that out from my speakers in the rear deck lid. i went to best buy first (dumb idea) and they tried to install rockford fosgates that had the same problem in the trunk with the cone being to deep. they told me that they were going to have to modify the trunk and i told them not to do that, i went to a local car audio shop and they showed me that if i had the rockfords that the metal would have messed up the sound. they installed them and showed me what was going to be the problem so i brought memphis speakers and have loved them ever since. thats just my two cents

it's the window track
use a spacer and it'll be fine
i have alpine type r coaxials in my doors and not a problem
i used the spacer that cam with them though.
got them in the back too but don't have the torsion bars for the trunk...

Do not move the window track unless you dont plan on rolling down your windows. I agree with VtecFreePrelude use the spacer or better yet make your own and angle them it would give better imaging and are easy to make. All you need is some 1/8 thick masonite, fiberglass hair and some elbow grease.
