i have a 99 prelude. i have had it for a couple weeks now and my brake lights stopped working. i checked the switch at the brake pedal and checked the bulbs themselves but cant figure out the problem. i had speakers installed in the rear also and i couldnt see any problems with the wires. for the technical minded type i am getting a closed loop on the switch when it is not depressed and am getting an open loop from the clip on the harness... any ideas? anyone else had this problem? thanks for the help

I was going to suggest checking fuses but maybe you've already covered that?

i checked the tail light fuse which was fine. the tail lights work fine when the headlights are turned on. its just the brake lights that dont work. is there a specfic brake light fuse that i havent checked?

are you sure the bulbs are fine? The brake light bulb is dual filiment, so maybe those are blown. Try changing the bulb and see if it helps

Does the 3rd brake lamp come on. If not I would bet on the brake lamp switch.

i figured it out. it was the horn fuse under the hood. low and behold a fuse that i thought had nothing to do with the brake lights is apparently linked. thanks for your help.

Getting back to the dual filament thing mentioned before that is usually the problem. Good to hear you got it fixed though.
