I got a 2.2vtec auto 1998 and when it changes from 1st to 2nd sometimes it revs then bout a second later changes, if i go up to high revs it doesnt do it or if i drive nice and slow it dont do it. If im on a hill and pull off fast when it changes its like me revin and not bein in gear for about a second and makes me look really stupid like i cant drive!!! any ideas?

if i take my foot off the accelerator when i know its gonna do it and then accelerate again, its not that noticible but really annoying sometimes?
thanks

Ah yes.
Sounds like your auto tranny is on it's way out...that sounds like the tq converter. My old Integra did the same.

...facts state that the auto transmission on 5th gen Preludes are indeed faulty and not reliable.

good luck man...maybe it's time for a manual swap?

will it last much longer as its only done 72k and its been well looked after, can an auto be changed with a manual, also how much work is it?

There's a site somewhere that you can type your VIN into and see if your able to get compensation from Honda. I'll see if I can find it.

Taken from http://www.preludeonline.com/showthread.php?t=106839:

Ok guys,

We've finally gotten the information on who to contact at the NTSHA about the issues with the SS Autos.

If you've ever posted a complaint on the NTSHA web, thank you! If not, please visit the link below!

Then you should email / call them and mention that you've posted a complaint on their web site, and that you have "safety" concerns about the transmission.

This is REALLY important if you have gone through more than one SS Auto, and especially true if you have a 1997-1999 Prelude.

We are trying to get the 1997-1999 transmissions covered under the extended warranty.

If you have never filed a complaint, please read the above thread and then fill out a complaint on the NTHSA web site:

Especially in the case of several of them failing in under 100,000 miles. This has happened to me (2 trannies in under 91,000 miles).

Try there.

I think it extends to the H22A fitted Accords as well. Not sure though.

^^I'll do that when mine starts to missbehave. It's doing well though, 95,000km and not missed a beat yet.

I have the F22A4 in my accord. It also jumps and shudders when you step on it after taking it easy. That is why I don't want an auto prelude.
