NO. Unless you want to buy a new motor soon I suggest not driving it until you get the new thermostat.

i figured it would be bad... ive never had issues with a thermostat going out, does it cause it to overheat (i assume it would) if so, is that the only real issue, or just driving is bad all together? sorry , it may be a dumb question, but i need to know these things. im going to get it fixed monday... im just curious

The thermostat is a vital tool for operating the motor safely.
Your thermostat is probably stuck wide open, or just dead.
Change that ASAP, DONT DRIVE.
...as for your 6k rev limit, did that just start to happen??!?
you could have some faulty distributor timing or other electrical issues...
you need to tell us more info...
good luck!

That could very well be a clutch problem too, have you had recent trouble with the clutch engagement?
When does the 6k rev limit happen? after you've driven the car for a good amount of time?
The clutch becomes warmed up and starts to slip...
...again, it could be many, many other things that can cause that...

alright well i went to the shop... it isnt the thermostat after all, it just isnt reaching temps to open the thermostat... i just have the stock thermostat in, and temps were only reaching 150 degrees... as for the rev limit, i think it may just need new spark plugs (i think im running a little rich, since it hasnt been tuned yet, and i have a fpr... i think the plugs are just getting coated, and i need new ones), and thats why it was cutting out? i doesnt do it anymore though.
but hey i appreciate the help/ info.. ill keep posted and let you all know if anything changes...
for now im just waiting to get the header built, so i can get tuned.
i have the head built for 4 months and i cant seem to get anyone to tune it :( everyones busy

Keep a look out for a CKP code. That b!tch will throw you into limp mode too. I had that problem two summers ago. It would bounce at 6k and then once I shut off the car and turned it on it was fine. It did that a few times. Finally I just got a new Distributor and shut that problem up. haha Just some info incase it might be the issue ir incase you ever have that type of issue in the future. GL with the fix

im not throwin any codes, its just messin with me, cause its so dam cold here... i once was told that if you feel the radiator hoses, and they were cold then it was your thermostat, and thats why i figured it was, cause the lower hose has not bit of warmth coming from it when the car had been driven, then shut off (meaning that the temp guage was at the 3rd light) but at idle i felt it, and theres a bit of heat... so its no the thermostat after all, just cold
