Congratulations to Playlude for winning Jan. 2007 Preludezone Ride of the Month!

Members ride thread (http://preludezone.com/showthread.php?t=1487)

Some words from Matt, Playlude himself:

I bought this Prelude for $4500 back in 1999 with 180,000 plus on it. At the time I was 20 yrs old and didn't know anything about Preludes. I just wanted it because it looked cool. It progressively went down hill for awhile and I began to get pretty depressed with it. Both axels were clicking so bad I thought my wheels were going to fall off. I left huge oil spots everywhere I parked. The paint was very faded... It had 270,000 miles on it by now. I wanted a new car.

One day I spotted a 95 Black Prelude for sale at a used lot. It was perfect and beautiful. Black leather, EL gauges, perfect paint and H22 VTEC! I tried to see what I could get for my car on a trade in and I was told that my car would add negative value to the deal! This really bummed me out and after some thought I decided... Why put myself more in debt to get another car when I can fix this up. So I decided to do it.

I took out a small loan and did my JDM H22 swap and got the spoiler (which I don't really like anymore) and sent the car out of town with a "friend" to get painted. After a very long time I finally got the car back with its new crappy paint job... Overspray everywhere, interior trashed... Fish eyes, light spots and trash in the paint everywhere. Two days later, it got backed into, damaging the hood and the bumper cover. After getting screwed by the Insurance company (AllState), I had to drive it like this for awhile.

Meanwhile I met a guy through a friend who had actually bought that black 95 VTEC I mentioned earlier. He bragged on his car so much it made me sick! Quite awhile later on, my friend told me that the guy totalled that black Prelude. I don't know why, but it never dawned on me to go after any parts. I already had my H22 and was about to paint mine again.

One day, looking for a hood in a junkyard, purely by accident (or fate) me and the black 95 Prelude met again. Everything from the engine back was perfect! After a 40 yard dash to the office, I learned I was $600 away from owning that interior. It took awhile to get the money together but my Prelude now has the exact same interior and EL gauges I once drooled over in a used car lot a few years back. I also got the 6x9 bracket/cover for between the back seets and the dash tweeter housings.

Later I stumbled across the Wings West body kit, brand new in the box on eBay being sold by an individual in Atlanta. I won it for $300 and drove 4hrs to Atlanta to pick it up. All at once I was ready to add the interior, JDM headlights, body kit and fresh paint.

This time I used a local guy who painted out of his home and he let me put my own labor on the job to save money. I worked on it nights and weekends and sanded my fingertips off working it. This time, my baby got the TLC she deserved. The rest is history!

Moral of the story. Never give up. It will always be two steps forward and one step back, but if you keep your vision in mind and work hard at it, one day, everything will finally fall into place. A new car could never be as satisfying to me as the compliments I get on my Prelude now. It is one of a kind and all mine!!

To everyone who nominated and voted for me and to PreludeZone.com... A HUGE THANKS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Thanks a lot you guys! Parts I have lying around to be installed are JDM fogs, JDM window visors, JDM switch cluster for the 92 center console with the half mast switch, fog switch, and two Canadian Prelude heated seat switches. I guess Im gonna add an aftermarket heated seat system to my front leathers. I also have amber JDM bumper lenses and amber JDM sidemarkers to install. I want the Mugen spoiler for it as well. A humble turbo may be in the future after I buy me another ride this summer to be my daily driver.

get some Mugen headlight covers if you come up on them. They'd look really good on your car. I want the Mugen body kit for mine but I'll prolly never find it.

I really like that subtle stripe on that Mugen Lude as well. I might come up with my own version kinda similar to that. I agree those headlight covers are sexy. I think you have to have the entire Mugen bumper as well to use them though... That would be expensive!

I don't see why you would need it but that bumper isn't too far off from resembling yours with the lip on it.

I could be wrong but I thought the headlight covers have tabs that have to fit into slots in the bumper. They may be able to be retrofitted though.

the headlight covers attach to the bumper thats why you need the mugen front to go along with it.

damn play your plans are similar to my own. I know my car gonna be one sexy biatch when im done with her looking at yours now but of course with several ideas going along with it. dont stop working on this car has come along way and looks amazing. Sets you aside from so many people when you can look at your car and be proud of yourself for the hard work you did for that transformation.

Maybe I'm wrong but I'd MAKE IT FIT! Lol. None the less, like Manny said, you've done a hella job building it. It's more satisfying building the car to what it is instead of just buying it, isn't it? Just so you can say, "I did this" and be proud of what you've done.
