im kinda new to the whole prelude thingy i learned alot already by reading all of your posts on here but heres sumthing i havent seen ANYBODY talk about

sum 1 tell me i have 98 prelude sh "black top h22"
what is a red top and blue top i see those often dun understand the dif. from my black top SH

A "Red top" H22 is another term for the JDM h22a (red valve cover). Blue tops are found on Accord Euro R's. You can also order new valve covers in Red or Blue for that JDM or EDM touch.

There are also people that just switch valve covers for looks, when i put my h22a in the car i put on my black top from the org motor cause the red top looked like crap

I thought the Blue Top was the H23 Vtec

The blue top is the H23, but only in japan. here it is a black top.

blue is also the european h22 vtec

Very true. If you have a downloading program, type in honda prelude or best motoring, you will pull up a lot of videos on either subject. One is called the vtec battle, CTR, s2000, ITR, PTS, AER all going at it.

red top either is from the type s and euro r h22 or some one painted there valve cover.
blue top is only from the Accord SiR Wagon which has an h23 vtec NOT an h22.

Wow, you're right, it is red top. I have seen a blue top before though on a stock euro r.

If I'm not mistaking, there were also blue top H22's in some coutries. M1k30rz is in New Zealand and talking with him, his mom's Accord has a blue top H22.

dont type r integgy have black tops? i know that the "type R" is the jdm version but every "type R" that i have ever seen has had a black top

There are two blue top motors, the H23 VTEC and F20b.

I've never seen a blue top under a Civic or Teggy, just Prelude and Accord.

Only seen one civic with a blue top H22A. And ITR's come with a B20C. The USDM versions are supposed to come with a black top, the JDMs come with a Red top.
