:scratchchin:
I dunno, there's other things I want to get first like an exhaust or maybe new wheels. I was looking into HID before, but retro's don't come cheap.
Prelude13
12-08-2006, 01:24 PM
This is true.
BUT.
Nowadays they sell HID kits for almost every type of bulb size, so it'll just plug in play. Of course, one must find out the "legalities" of running HID's...ala projectors :)
...Thermal exhaust is next on your list huh?
They sound magnificent.
I've heard a Thermal system on a 5th gen before and plenty on 3rd gens.
I can also suggest the Greddy Sp2 for your car.
Do it man.
Your Lude is the perfect picture i have when i later upgrade to a 5th gen.
WOW.
edge2lyfe
12-08-2006, 02:03 PM
I was looking at some projector write-ups on other websites this morning. Looks like something I would enjoy doing myself in the future. I don't know squat about them, aren't the bulbs used inside the projectors called "HID" bulbs or can you use standard bulbs too? I'll look into it some more.
I'm really more into appearance than performance right now, but the thermal exhaust just might help out with both. I desperately want a stainless canister for the look.
Thanks for the comments, glad I can provide some inspiration.

It's not hard at all to install. You just need to patience to cut the hinges.
I'd love to see a pic of your trunk struts.

Nice.
How does it sound?

No sound with a stock air filter, with the K&N filter you can just barely hear it.
No plans for I.C.E. upgrades. I'm looking into doing a projector retro-fit or new wheels.
Tell me about the Type S intake. I'm tossing up between it and the V2 and the Iceman CAI.
For starters it's cheaper than a V2, insulates and protects the filter better than V2, draws fresh air from the fender and...it's JDM
As far as which one brings more power...I can't really tell the difference between the two. The V2 seemed to give a little more throttle response but overall the power feels the same.

Well, I bought a pair of TSX projectors. Next I will need D2S bulbs (prolly 5000k's) shrouds, ballast units and a PNP harness.
I plan on making the shrouds myself, hopefully have them machined from billet aluminum. I won't start the retro until I get all the parts.

Hahaha...somewhow I knew that question was coming. I've been working with a guy from PO.com on designing a custom retro. We're gonna try and build ours exactly the same, so basically it's just been taking a while to design the parts using CAD and getting a machine shop to make them. I think in the end the long wait will be worth it. They should look factory when done. I might try and find a used headlight to practice on first, so it might take some time.
WOW what a clean ride.. luv the door idea

lmao...I need to check my thread more often. I will say this, the car was very clean when I bought especially inside. Maybe the guy had it detailed before putting it up for sale. All I've done is kept it washed almost once a week and I detail the engine about once a month. Wax the top surfaces once a month and the sides every three months. I've actually slacked off some on the waxing cause it's takes soo much damn time to do it anymore. I dunno what pics you saw when you posted cause I just updated the first page with some recent one's. I had a lot of compliments on the old photography but I took those pics down because I've updated my car with the new wheels. I think my car tends to look better at night so I'm trying to challenge my car and get the same results with day shots. Anyway thanks for stopping by.

Basically Brash it's just a case of procrastination. Another reason I haven't started is because I don't want retros unless they'll look absolutely factory made. I made a shroud that I think will do the trick, but I've just been lazy to get the project started.

That inside shot almost looks like it came out the USDM Prelude brochure. Do I spot a JDM cup holder? I think I'll hafta buy one of them...and do the Accord tray cover dovawhatsit as well. Such simple things finish off the interior so nicely.

Not asking, I just think I need to do it. Visors will finish it off nicely.
What do you mean by 'work in progress', is there more to come?

Brash- If you need a part # for the accord pocket then let me know.
Yeah, there's always something more I want to do for the Lude. For example...I removed the 3rd brake light but have that big hole there, I'm planning to have the whole rear deck wrapped in vinyl with red stitching down the middle to match the center console cover. An S2K steering wheel is another want and maybe a Titanium shift knob (burnt look).
Also I want to get new rotors for the rear as mine are original and have rust around the edges & rotor hats. I'm soo happy with my new brembo rotors up front...now I can't wait to do the back.
Something else I've been putting off forever is an exhaust...but I can't come to decision on what I want. Any suggestions are very welcome.

Exhausts are like wheels, a very personal decision. All I can advise is to ride in a few cars with different systems and see what you like. We've got a few exhaust clips on here, as well as on PO so it may be worth having a look around.

Sure you wanna trade after all the hard work you've put into yours??? I'm sure you'd miss all the power under the hood, haha.
Actually...I don't I want the sh deck, I'm considering the vinyl with red stitching. If it doesn't look right then I'll do the sh.
