View Full Version : DIY Replacing Cam Plug

This DIY was done on my H23, but should be very similar for H22 or B series.

1. Remove coil (3 bolts)
2. Remove valve cover
3. Remove the 4 bolts that hold the cam cap on

4. Remove the cam cap. It's probably in there pretty tight (mine was), so I gentely tapped it with a small hammer, then put the head of the hammer behind the large tab and pulled up slightly

5. Remove the old cam plug and clean the oil out of the groove, as well as the stream on the outside of the engine

6. Drop the new plug in and dab some high temp sealant around the edge to prevent the the cam cap from leaking

7. Put the cam cap back on and tighten down the bolts in an X pattern until all edges are snug, then back the bolts off till you can turn them by hand

8. Torque each bolt to 7 lb-ft

9. Put valve cover back on
10. Put coil back on

Lmfaoare you serious you can get a cam cap from anywhere.Go to ebay and buy a nice skunk2 one and waste some money=D

LET'S GET SOMETHING STRAIGHT... IT'S CALLED A CAM SEAL!! :biggrin:

you can buy these any where. def get a 3 ring seal though. the stock seal is complete crap. i just replaced mine about a week ago with a Billet Polished Golden Eagle Cam Seal.

h22's are alot different, you have to take off the whole like, top rail thing.
it sucked :[
