View Full Version : sleeper going to the dark side...

Well... I've decided to venture to the dark side of engine performance. I'm a strong believer in n/a and my heart will always be there. But lately it seems that this is the right way for me to go. I recently made a deal with a good friend of mine that we need to take a few cars out here in the Atlanta area. They are very fast cars so we will have our work cut out for us. he drives a 98 integra with a gsr swap:
his setup is looking like this:
t3/t4 super 60 trim
block bored out to 85mm (the block is bigger than a 2.0L block. a b18 2.0L is a 84mm bore).
SKUNK2 head made by skunk2 themselves.
1000cc injectors.
with all the other goodies he'll need to make close to 500whp.
The setup I'm think of from my lude:
darton sleeves bored .10mm over (2.3L)
either 8.5, or 9.0 or 9.5 cr pistons. (I want to still be responsive when I'm not using boost).
do away with my skunk2 cams and use my type s cams and keep my head the way it is.
Rev-hard turbo manifold
GT35R ball baring turbo. this is why I want to have decent compression cause it will take a while for me to hit boost. (max boost should be before 5k though).
1000cc injectors.
People have always told both of us that we need to go boosted. Why? Becuase we both already have a built head and all we need to do is get our blocks done. We've both made a deal to go ahead with this and we both are shooting for over 400whp. We both want about 420ish whp without going over 18psi on boost.
with all that being said: Watch out cause there are 4 honda cars coming with well over 350whp to the wheels which will be daily driven.

Sounds like a plan man. Just out of curiosity, are you gonna keep the sleeper look with a black intercooler or be a lil bit of a showoff and have one of them silver bad boys penetrating into the other car's soul? Kekeke...
THE ONE
09-12-2006, 07:21 PM
well... the stock 98 pumpers do a good job hiding the intercooler. I can paint it black but I think its going to be pointless since they will here the rattle snake Japanese blow off valve lol. Pishs shi shi shi shi shi.... lol
it will still have a some sleeperness to it. I don't think most poeple around here know too much about the turbo I'm using so they probly won't know how much power I'll be pushing. Same goes for my friend. The super 60 spools really fast and has high hp out put on those damn b series engines. There is only like one guy around here with one and his car is running right!

just to let you know that the type-s cams eat the rocker arm stoppers or was it the rocker arms, so there is no point in puttin them on.
On the type-s head, the cams sit a tad lower for clearance.

I have a type s motor man... I have two heads type s head and h22a4 head.
I have three blocks. type s block and a close deck h22a1 block and h22a4 block.
thats great info for people who are wondering though... I know all about eating away the rocker arms believe me. So when I say go back to type s cams thats actually going back to stock head cause I have a type s head anyways.

Isn't the GT35R basically the same as a T3/T4? The T3/T4 seems to be a popular choice... if you had endless supply of money I'd tell you to go with a T78

sir admin wit respect, i do not think you should do anythin wit bore just leave it way it is just sleeve pistons rods and balance w/ good tuner and good E manage system u'll make that kind of power wit ez. addition, head can b completely stock just lil mods like intake mani and throttle body. @18psi u'll have damn near 500 w/ those mods and yes gt35r big is good but for H i'll always go for t66 like mee or GT30r cuz u get instant boost reactin at lower RPM and its goin to b high 10's w/ slicks and street legal :-) but again thats just my opinion. My goal for next summer is 700 hp street H prelude. yes its alot of time and cash too but It will happen :-)

lol I'm Ace man... nobody special:tongue:
The Gt30r and gt35r are pretty similar turbos that have almost the same max out put capability. You would really put a t66 on honda? I would actually put that on v6/I6 like the IS300 or a v6 accords. I usually hit max boost at 3500rpms. I ready have the built head so its a plus. I see your point about the bore man. Intake manifold and all those little goodies I already have. I just need to get the car running before I start the major project.
Thanks for your input.

Yea no problem. ok ok yea I have T66 on it rigt now i'll post the pic by tomorrow. anyways My opinion come down to.... GT30 and GT35... between those two... I would rather go with gt30s cuz of less lag and plus its' really safe to have gt30s than a 35r.. did you think how the manifold gots to be made for tat kind of turbo in a prelude? that will take almost all frontend and yes they are about same size but within that size theres alot of amount of lag... also gt30 u can have real good lower end power and also maximaum power on a higher rpm. and again thats just my opinion .. i only been usa for cpl yrs now ... i learnd a lil bit lol

yeah... sometimes i miss driving a stock car. but i'm going to mess around with mine and use it as a test bed for stuff. when this motor goes, i'm going to see what i can do to get my hands on a type s.

I need the lag... that's why I would only lower the compression no lower than 9:1. I don't want to hit max boost at 3000rpms... I'd rather hit it around 45-5000rpms. If I was actually in my right mind that is the turbo I would go with. There are a couple of people with the gt30 gt35r turbos in ludes. its available as an upgraded turbo from rev-hard themselves if you buy the kit directly from them Ofcourse you have have a shop do it for you and all. it will fit no problem. The kit is designed for it. keep your a/c and power steering and everything.
you've only been in teh U.S. for a couple of years? Me too... where you from?

type s pulls hard man.. well a lot better than a regular h22... can't wait to get mine back on the road. it will be weird at first cause it might not feel the same as it use to but I'll be alright:banana:

ahh, so you want bascially like a dragster type ? well you could do that too get just one amount of huge power and higher rpm than breakin it down from lower to high.. i c.... well you could do both lol
