My car had this clear film on all 3 of my rear windows. It was peeling / cracking and looked pretty bad. I only removed it from the 2 side windows for now until I figure out how I want to do the rear one. All I did was take a razor blade, with some duct tape on the back of it for comfort, and scraped it off. Then I used Goo Gone to get any residue that was left behind. (Do NOT get Goo Gone on your interior trim...I got a drop on my center console and it turned it white lol). My 2 rear side windows are crystal clear now and I cant wait to do the big one.

I would not suggest doing this for anyone!!My family owns a glass business installing glass and this I would never do. Try getting a corner of the tint up very small spot pour alcohol and all the goodies people use to remove all over inside and you. Also if you have a little squirter try pushing some in the tint it will gradually work its way from inside out.Wrap it up with trash bag and let it do its thing for 4+ Hours if its done correct it will come off in one big piece just like put on.There are write ups all over the internet do some research.
Also if you were to do this with a razor make sure you are using some alcohol or w\e your suppose to use.A BRAND NEW razor blade and angle it alot more then pictures otherwise you might do some damage.
Sorry there is no need to argue with me I think I would know.Family business is Broadway auto glass been in business for 30+ years so talk it over not argue.
Also I hope you take my advice on the rear windows because if you have defrost lines or dots and you do that your going to cause some serious problems

Not trying to argue, I appreciate your concern, but;
This is shyt film, it cracks and peels, it wont peel off in one piece, ever lol.
I already saw all the other write ups and have done a lot of research. I'm not looking to blow a huge amount of time to get off some shyt film haha. There was no damage done to the windows or the frit(which is a lot tougher than I thought it was). The job was very easy and I would trust it all the time.
My Point: My windows are now crystal clear. The job was easy. Took maybe an hour or less for both windows. Right way or wrong way it really doesnt matter, it worked.
I know about damaging the rear defrost lines and I'm deciding how I will want to do it. I might get a steamer and steam it off...or I will go very slowly with a razor and no i will not hit the lines because i can control myself haha...or maybe I will wait till next summer..i dunno. There is not really much hot sun anymore to do this with the ammonia method.
A good thing to spray on the razor blade is wd40 to help cut through the tint.

NO DONT DO THAT LOL
those dots are called frit and that is still on my window but you cant see it in the final pic for some reason...this film was over the frit. The frit is like painted onto your window i would guess and it is supposed to be there.

From my knowledge I think its more molded on the glass then painted. Also A Steamer would be a good thing to use on the rear but try getting a corner or a bubble cut open if there is one and leak some type of liquid in so it goes from inside out also.Id be patient though and not rush it with a steamer.

looks good man, there's nothing wrong with the way you did it, it is very very hard to scratch glass, but that razor will take a defrost line off in a heart beat, the easiest way to take tint off of back windows is to peel all of the actual plastic off by hand then use lacqure thinner and a rag to get the glue off..

Once again steam it or use the right liquids then bag over it and let it sit for hours...All peels off in one piece its not to hard.
bagging it causing it to be air tight or somewhat and I believe sit in sun for the heat\condensation\ something like that my other dude does tint not me but im almost positive thats the RIGHT and smartest way to do it unless you wanna push your luck especially on the defrost Lines or dots

Not positive on what you use I can ask the guy that does tinting at broadway for us I believe he uses a mixture of rubbing alcohol, water, and something else. Also He bags it tightly with some room left to air out and heat up,then places car in sun with the window bagged etc for a few hours. It only takes "Too Long" If your not patient and dont want it done correctly.Im not lieing and not saying to do it but if you want to take the time to have it right especially on the rear glass Id do it and if you really want to do this ill get all the correct info from my tint guy tomorrow afternoon when I get back from the school pep rally.

what happens if the sun isn't out and it's the middle of winter and it doesn't heat up? there's more than one "correct" way of doing things.

New windows look real nice man - great job! I know what a pain that crap can be, and it looks horrible while it's on the car, it is depressing as the cars owner to have to look at it, lol

hes not being a smartass he is making an excellent point actually. its mostly the reason i didnt bother with ammonia, because it isnt really hot anymore. also not everybody wants to send their car off to an overpriced shop to have such simple tasks done.

thanks!

Do a tint soon because to be honest, that clear film is what holds the glass in case of it shattering...

You may want to go darker than that on the back window. I had it on my 4th and it really didn't make much difference at night when someone in a 4x4 is breathing down your neck with their brights on.I have 20 on my 5th and it's much better but I'm going to 15% when I redo it since it's doing like your **** film was.
