I got a quote for new paint for the lude.

I want the Nighthawk to matched. nothing crazy. Just something very nice. i got the quote from a guy that I know and most of my friends bring their car to his shop. Well he quoted me $2500.

I'm assuming that most of this is coming from the prep work. Does anyone have any money saving DIY's at home tips? It would be great.

I know to start by taking all existing molding off including door handles and such. I have about 5 dings also. Jus looking to save on this paint job. $2500 seems a bit steep.

$2500 is actually decent, depending on how well he can paint.

As far as prep work, most painters HATE when people do our prep work because we don't know how it's done, and we like to do shyt our way. Thats just how it is, plus if the materials you use doesn't comply with what they have, the paint could lift, or blister, or have any other imperfections that might react with what you are using.

Just stick to removing things that need to be removed.

Hey man 2500 is a really good deal especially if hes fixing the body work. Ive got a real good friend of mine putting new bumpers/paint/ and body work on my 01 lude now. Sounds like a descent deal but like 99preludesh said, as long as he can paint haha.

**** man, Well you could try talking to some paint reps to see if you can get free materal, like a sponsorship!!!! I did that!!!!!!!
ICI gave me free material, and a hyper gloss clear, i only had to pay a painter 200 bucks.
