First I want to say thank you to all who voted and nominated me. Sorry if this is very long.
Back in fall 2006 I was driving my sister’s 1999 Accord EX sedan as a car that I could drive to from school and back. I was originally looking for a project car that I could “work on”. My parents gave me a limit of $4000. I was only looking at Honda/Acuras. I was mainly looking at Integra’s but none of them fit my liking, mainly because I wanted a GSR. A guy down my road has a very nice white 5th gen, it is flawless. Seeing that car every day made me want to get a prelude. My mom one day said “hey, did you see there is prelude in the paper.” And I noticed under the description that it was an automatic. I never was looking for an automatic, but next to the word Auto, it said “4WS”. I thought to myself what does that mean? So I had my dad call up the guy. He lived less than a mile away. So the next day we went to look at it, I had no idea that four wheel steer existed. We talked to the guy and he bought it new for his daughter as an incentive to do well in high school and then she took it to collage and then got married ,still the original owner . She lived in Virginia Beach for 6 years so I think that is where the rust came from. We took it for a test drive; I was hooked as soon as I put the throttle down. We took it to our trust local Honda mechanic to have it looked at. It needed $1000 worth of repairs. So we got to negotiating dropped the price to $4200. So I am now the second owner of this car. But It still needed some things; there was a medium sized dent on the rear ¼ panel with some rust. And one of the headlights had a hole in it that let water in. I replaced the headlight with a USDM one I bought off of ebay. But the car remained untagged as it was an incentive to do well in my Chemistry class. I would drive her around the neighborhood letting it get to normal operating temps about twice a week. I could not wait for chem. to be over. Well I passed chem. And the tag was on the car that day. It wasn’t until a month later that I found that the 4WS harness was UMPLUGED!!! I plugged it in cutting my hand a couple of times on some sharp metal. Then turned the car on, and to my amazement the 4ws worked. I drove the car though the parking lot I was in and I was amazed on how the car handled I could not describe it. I parked and turned the car off then turned it back on, Ohh no the light is on, major disappointment. Later that day when I got home I searched the internet to see what is wrong. That is when I found Preludezone.com and a link to Sean1121’s 4ws write up. We pulled the code and found that it was the main computer that cost over $2000, and there was only one in the country. So we found one in a junk yard and had our friends over at GTimports Limited put it in. That fixed the problem. I still have the old unit and it needs to be re-soldered. I went to my first Auto-X about a week before this. I noticed that the car had too much front end body roll. So I bought a Neuspeed front sway bar, this is by far one of my favorite mods. It is much flatter though the turns. The JDM headlights came after that, then I thought that the back of the prelude looks unfinished and after seeing preludes on PZ with the accord rear lip I decided to add that. It wasn’t last summer that the dent got removed and the rust fixed. Now people don’t ask me what did I hit, and then have to explain I bought it like that. I haven’t done much since. I am very OCD about my Lude I clean it almost every week or after it rains. I know where every little scratch and door ding is located. I am currently replacing little rubber bits that have worn. I plan on keeping her forever and hope one day she will be a classic car.
