Now I know it would possibly cost alot and also alot of labor. I have been curious about changing my lude to RWD or trying to find a way yo change it to a mid-ship. I think that if I were to change it to put the engine behind the driver I think for one: the handling would be UNREAL, 2: Losing traction no problem!, 3: What is better the the Honda's NSX well my prelude of course afterwords.

Now I was just wanting to know what engines would be the best way to go for this project. I have already seen that 4AGZE prelude and I think that is amazing. Now what would consider if you wanted to do this project yourself?

^^^ I think that would completely destroy the whole HONDA PRELUDE theme.

A chevy block is out of the question I would probably go with a Honda or toyota engine. I want to keep it reliable. You know less maintanence as possible. lol

You guys haven't heard/seen the LS1 4th gen project? it was started by some guy and documented as far as getting the engine to fit in the car. the frame wasnt done, still needed to support the engine and make room for the driveshaft and axle in the back, but if he had continued he could have done it easy

LS1 $10,000, Engine mounts and labor $expensive, Honda Prelude $350, Tires spent $500, pissing you pants from excitment priceless.

^LS1 to god **** much. I like the availability of 4-cylinders and the easy way to maintain and work on.

I read that thread from the guy who did it to his 4th gen - basically by the time he was done with the frame the only thing not changed was the outside look of the car. EVERYTHING was ripped apart and custom fabricated to get the stuff to fit, it was ridiculous.

He used an RX-7 ITR to make it RWD, but none of the engine and transmission or any of that is posted, at least that I could see - I was disappointed caue I wanted to see if he actually did it...lol

Wow this really strayed off from the main topic of being a 2nd gen. . .

It would be amazing if the NSX engine was actually tossed in! You know it being Honda's flagship mid-engine production vehicle! You could through a 3 cylinder Beat engine i suppose. . .

Really you can use any engine. The Toyota engine in that RWD Prelude is actually that of an MR2.. .so you know anything will do. Why not find a gold-top B20a1 with 16ohp and make it your mid engine powerhouse?!?! =D

I personally believe the 2g has a perfect body style for a mid engine format. . .

Well a 4-cylinder is going to be it i know as much as that. I dont want to try to make room for a V6 or V8, Also anoter thing to think about is cooling. I was thinking about doing what the MR2 has is the side vents for small intercoolers. I think the vents could either ruin it or make it better but personnel opinion does matter. So anyways the MR2 engine could be a high possibility.

Okay I am going to add another question. Now i have seen on another forum where the Guy has removed the Black box behind the FI system and put a air filter and and goes straight into the choke. I think that it wont you know drastically improve power but I bet it will add horse poswer then the box behind that is probably dragging my power down.
