hey guys, my prelude had this huge dent on it when I first bought it.

I'm eventually going to get the whole car nicely repainted, and when I do I'm not sure if i'm going to need a new fender or not.

I dont want it to look ****ty if i'm gonna do it, i'm gonna do it right.

I have access too a good price on a new fender so does this look like something can be fixed or should I just go ahead and get a new fender?

Yea that can be pulled out but the real question is, is it worth it over all. The fender is going to have to be re-painted and the hood may have to be blended. It might be more cost efficient to just get the new fender. take it to a few body shops and get an estimate.

the whole car is going to get re-painted. so I'm not concerned with paint matchup.

I can get a fender for 70 bucks. so I'm tryina figure out if it makes sense to just buy one for 70 or pay to get this one fixed when its getting repainted.

You would have to go see what someone would charge you should be cheaper then the 70 plus you get have it done now and not have diffrent color fender. If it was me i would get a cheap dolly and hammer for like 20 bucks, take it off and hammer it out. I have no body work shills at all and have got a lot of dents out that way even in corners and flat spots with curves so if i can do it i think you can. That one u might be able to just use a wood block and a hammer so it would be free.

70 buck no id fix it. Its easy to fix and that dent will come right out. Take it off and hammer out the dent, grind down the paint slap some bondo on it, sand that down with 180 grit, throw some primer on it sand that down with 320 git and paint your car and call it a day.

well fellahs thats all I needed to know.

"could it be done without costing me an arm and a leg"

I now know that not only is it possible, but either I can do it myself or a body shop will charge me most likely less than $70.

So looks like i'll pass up that fender for sale.

Thanks guys.

Yeah for sure can be popped out , very easy fix. And no the hood would not have to be blended if you were going that route. They would just blend the fender and thats it.

just wanted to say to the person who said that you sand it with 180 and then primer it and then sand it down with 320, you are wrong, i went to school for it and you want to sand the primer down with at least 400. it prevents sand scratches, and paint swelling. and not to mention your paint will look better and adhere better to the primer.

get an OEM honda fender. aftermarket fenders don't line up for sh!t. fixing it is Not cost effective unless you're steph and can do it yourself properly

Honestly you are going to pay more when you get an OEM fender because you will have to paint the fender and also blend the door to color match. When you can just fix it in an hour and just blend the fender.

used OEM fenders are NOT expensive. I just hate body filler......................

the whole car is gonna get painted when i do anything.

I'm not gonna fix the fender or put on a new one before the whole car gets painted.

Everything will be doen by the body shop, its just a matter of is it better to get a new fender or just pay for them to fix what i have.

and an oem fender isn't an option, the dealers want like 250 plus for em'.

the one that i'm getting for $70 i believe is OEM used

buy it. that'll be cheaper than the labor that has to be put into fixing your damaged one.

starbai

are you sure about that? beacuse above people said that the labor would probably be cheaper than the cost of the new fender.

Th used fender most likely has rock chips on it and before you spray it you have to combi those rocks so they dont show up, so in theory there would be filler on it no matter what...IF ITS USED

Doesnt look that bad just at the bottom of it looks like maybe some rust.

EDIT: also looks as if there is rust on the fender where the headlight goes, and appears as if the fender has some filler work done to it.

I have after market fenders on my car and with a little push and love they work fine. And if the fender is **** take it back and they will replace it.

320 and 400 almost are the same!!!! 400 is a little finer and yes if your wet sanding 400 is ok but i prefer to dry sand at 320 grit. 2 reasons, you can use a DA to knock it down faster and also when you wet sand you can reach the bondo, bondo has talc in it, talc is what makes baby power, baby powder absorbs water = bond rebubling and having to do the job again. Did they teach you that in school

No it dosnt id still fix it, it would be more fun and yeah that dent would be pretty pricy to fix about 2 hours labor time 45 (i think thats what larbo rate is) bucks labor rate so 90 bucks!

you could use a da sander but there is a really good chance that you wouldn't get it all straight and you could have small valleys in it but if you use 400 and dry sand it with a block it would be even better and thats what they taught me in school
