well my self and racer_smokm1 went out to the track last night and im extremely disapointed to say my best time on this h22 in my 95 was a 17.2
the engine has 64k on it and the guy i got it from has a cai headers and as i found out today a hack job exhaust system.
the cat on there is to small i already got a noise ordance ticket for the muffler and almost all the welds are leaking.
he also has a aem fuel rail with aem adjustable presure regulator thats set at god knows where.
long story short it failed emisions its to rich on idle and passed by the skin of its teeth on the higher rpm test.
am i missing something here or is this car suposta run better times.
also i should say the check engine light comes on and off as it pleases and havent had a chance to check that yet....

I can safely say that my car is faster than yours
...seeing that you have a check engine light severely hampers your 1.4 mile time and performance---everything.
Get your Lude straight and you'll run 15's. That, and learn how to launch.

launching isisnt the problem ive been driving sticks for almost 8 years now.

i should probably post this somewhare else but the check engine light isint stored in the memory the car didnt blink any codes when i jumped the sensor.
again the check engine light is interminent im going to have to catch it when it happens...

What was your 60' and MPH?
Kronicus

my best reaction time for the night was .371
the time slip dosent brake down for the 60 foot it goes this way
I1 2.633
I2 .000
I3 11.227
trap- et 17.289 @ 81.851
the way they had the track setup that night is your reaction time does not interact with total et the clock starts when you leave.
its dispoinating to say the least, even a lil messed up or outa tune the car should not be this slow...

Auto? Or manual? Maybe I missed that......

Yeah even the MPH is low. Is VTEC working for sure? I am trapping 93 in my 98 with 17s.

its a stick with a way overkill stage 2 clutch i am a good driver please dont go that route...
v-tech hits reliabily at 5500rpm's every time and pulls hard my only thought is ....is the v-tech function syncronized between all the lifters/rockers is there a chance 1 or more is not working completly?
i also figured out i was jumping the wrong wire for the cel test im getting code 12 egr lift valve.........by it self even with a shot egr that shouldent hinder performance to much........unles it throwing the car into a limp mode....
being i dont have time to clean and test sensors anymore im just going to replace it if it even looks questionable...:smash:

you guys serious tho this thing is suposta plug 15's?
twokexlv6coupe
08-08-2008, 12:16 AM
yup at least 15's. i ran 15.1 w/ my H23 w/ boltons.
with some practice and good driving, you could pull high 14's/15 flat.

i forgot to tell everone i weigh about 185 and i had my girl in the car that run.
now being i cant comment on her weight directly just take heed....
now that the cel is gone the car seems to be runing alot better my biggest question now is how my vacume line's are routed espicaly the vital sensors like the map. dude had them all stupid thats why my egr code never went away...
slowley as i get all this stuff straight i have a good feeling the numbers are going to drop.
the car is runing alot better now 2

eCtune... this will improve your times when you get the minor problems fixed (http://www.preludezone.com/showthread.php?t=10727)

yeah no offense to your girl but having her in the car did slow you down.
well atleast just a a little but i heard that around 170lbs = 10-11hp so it might have just a little bit
And you say you have been driving for 8years? thats great but do you race often? Racing is different lol and at what rpms were you shifting at?

if walls could talk then so would these streets......
ill put it this way if this clutch burns out on me any time soon this will be the 9th clutch job ive done between all my cars.
and this car, was the first time ive ever been on a track.
to address the second question the first run down the track i was shifting right at the red line
the second run i ran her all the way up i even kissed the rev limiter in 3rd on the second run.
times were not much different....
had the tires at about 25psi and left the line at about 3500 bolth runs
scoreboards were not setup for reaction time to factor into total time.
i still think theres something else going on with the car....besides the rigged vacume lines and engine codes that have now been corrected....and i think im pretty close to it but i need a fuel pressure gauge to verify this.......
my hypothasis is shes running lean heres what im guessing off of.
1 the car when cold or parked for more than just a few minuts takes anywhare from 5-to prolly 25 revoloutions to start unless i switch it into the on position a few times letting the fuel pump cycle before actually trying to start it. even then it stil takes a while just less time.
2 im geting about 42+ highway mpg
3 my 1/4th mile times are hideous
4 sometimes when i gun it just drop the pedal to wot at say 3krpm's the car starts to pull and then all of a sudden its like a few more horses kick in.
like its not maintaining adequate fuel pressure. its not hard to judge a power band it should steadily increase, consistantly but smoothly the only way i can describe it is its like the car will sometimes hit a mini-vtech before it even goes into v-tech but then the next time you haul ass its as smooth as glass where it wasent before....
beside that im yet to fill her with synthetic at least inspect the ignition system run some inj. cleaner through the basic rounds. im just a little hesistant to mod it further until i know whats its all out capaible of then benchmarking that against upcoming mods.....and im not gona buy a oem replacement anything just to test that fact!!!!
i kinda wish the car was all stock when i got it....theres nothing like a fresh start.

o ya the elevation out here is also 5400 feet **** maybe 5600+ where the track is
mr_y82
08-15-2008, 09:34 PM
^hmm.. that is a pretty high elevation, but I ran the lude up to mt mitchell (6684ft)... after I had it tuned and I did not notice a real change, maybe the change was too small for my perception while climbing the switchbacks... anyway....
I wonder if it could just the the ecu... I had the p13 when I first did my swap (linked in sig)... and the engine was made in sept 94, supposed to be 25,000 mi or less (through a very reputable shop that also tuned me)... my car would sometimes lag at or around 3000rpms and around 4000 it would seem a bit more torquey all the sudden (you mini vtec?)... my engine is pretty clean and seemed pretty smooth for the most part. My friends at the shop explained some about the p13 and it's weaknesses such as running rich in high rpms (prevents detonation and protects engine with sh!t gas) and it's weakness in the lower part of the power band...
this should not be your whole problem, but I had them dyno tune me on eCtune with a chipped p28 and the car gained about 10 torque through the power band and it runs super smooth to a higher rpm and makes better peak power... all for $575... worth it in my book... I can actually get better gas mileage if I drive conservatively as the car pulls nicely from 40mph in 5th gear... I hate to drop it lower than that. (I drive 40 miles a day... 20 to work, 20 home so I have lots of chances to test)...
so, maybe you have another problem, but it might still be worth giving eCtune a try CLICK ME FOR DYNO CHARTS ETC!!!!!!!!! (http://www.preludezone.com/showthread.php?t=10727)

yea the elevation sucks.
try shifting at 8k on ur 1st to 2nd. and get that 60' down.i usually shift at 8k or 7800 on 1st and 2nd and at around 7200 on the top of 3rd and i run constant 15.3 on my 5th gen with bald tires lol.. for some reason if i shift higher on 3rd my time slows down drastically im thinking it just loses power idk
mr_y82
08-16-2008, 02:58 PM
yea, I'm tuned but shifting above 7500 (sometimes higher in low gear) doesn't seem to bne beneficial... power starts to fall off and it's better to shift (staying in vtec) and get back into the meat of that torque curve instead of revving to the limiter.

thats exactly what i told the guy i took advice from on the second run....
that was also the first time id redlined this car intentionaly
well i kinda stumbled into discovering my whole ign system is trash from the rotor to the plugs, and had a dizzy seize up last night.
got that all fixed car feels a little smoother but then continuing to take these guessing games on tuning isisnt the way to go i need to put her on a dyno and realy see.....
tomorow cap rotor plugs and ill order some better wires and coil off summit or something.....
also had time to squeeze in turning the "long" ram hot air intake into a tru cold air in.
tomorow ill start playing around with the fuel for now all i have to refer to is the average mpg everyone here has been reporting as far as dialing in the fuel until i can get on a dyno
