So a week ago my friend bought this ****ty 1800 watt Visonik amp. For some reason it went wack and he threw it in a trashcan at my house without even troubleshooting it really.

So its fairgame right? The only thing I ever liked about this amp was that it had 14 red LEDs built inside of it. They are kind of expensive to buy at the store! So i managed to rip it apart and attain two strips with 7 LEDs on each one.

They even have nice positive and negative wires coming from them. But I dont wanna just hook them up and blow them. Im figuring since theyre from a car amp they are 12v but do I need any resistors or anything?

basically all you need is just a 12v lead to your battery with a fuse on it.. then have a switch on your dash or something

It should be fine but you would have to run them in series, the only bad thing is if one blows the other wont light up.

you don't nnnneeeeed to run them in series. But you should unless you want one + and one - wire coming from each led lol..... Spider webs are fun.....
As long as you run at 12v you should be fine..... LED's really arnt to picky..... Unless for some great odd and unknown reason the amp manufacture had the amp lower the voltage to the leds to some 4 volts or come crap which is a ridiculous thought. Especially since led's that run bright at lower volts are more expensive....
Run an inline fuse just for saftey incase you get a short or somthing. Don't wnat your car catching on fire lol....
And just like yogi said the one thing that sucks is that since you will be going in series with the lights if one goes the rest down the line won't light..... Kinda like christmas lights and under the same theory.....
What do u need with red led's anyway? Plan on going knight rider?

Well it sounds pretty simple. I don't have any idea yet. It's free so what the heck. I have red leather interior.

Hold on here! There are different voltage LEDs out there and you will rarely find 12v LEDs. Most have a resistor in line. 4v is very common. Im not entirely sure what resistance you wil need to get your desired brightness. But in the same breath you would possibly hook them up and they will be golden. If you can hook up the amp and use a meter to check what voltage they run off of. Better safe than sorry.
