Well ladies and gents. Its time for paint. After 300,000 miles the original red paint is just too much to take. It was fading, clear was coming off, too many little rock chips and dents. So im doing a exterior overhaul. For the past day and a half ive been sanding and fixing dents, including one part of my door that was smashed in quite a bit. Getting ready for primer. And in the next 2 days ill have it primed and then me and my dad are bringing it to our friends shop and painting it. Heres pictures, enjoy and keep watching, ill keep you all updated :biggrin:

prep list-
Buy new front pass. fender
fix rust in both rear quarters- done
fix bashed in door- done
rust on trunk- done
sand entire car with 100 grit followed by 220- done

Glad to see how dedicated you are to your Lude, that's cool. I think white would be the way to go, but do what u feel & post pics afterwards, i'm sure it's gonna be beautiful, later..

one thing you have to consider is its going to be white with a red bay?
make sure you paint your side mirrors i hate when people dont repaint those

im for the red

Yea from day one i have been thinking of the trunk, engine bay and door jams. It kills me to think that at first i will have those red. But i am going to rebuild after paint, so i will do the engine bay then, and the trunk and door jams after that. And i found the paint today. Its a really nice blue, a little darker than the subaru blue.

That blue will look real nice!

A wise man once told me, that if you plan on having a real nice white car, start off white, because it is harder to paint a car from any other color to white and it will look horrible if done wrong. This is why my heart breaks every time i see a white lude...I want one so bad...lol

Rust is being cured piece by piece. I attacked one of the rear quarters today, looks good, ill have to take a picture of it. Primer on 35% of the car id say. Pictures of that later today too

how are you applying the primer?
what color are you doing considering the guts are red.

again not trying to change your mind, its your car, but is going back another day to paint the jambs, trunk and bay really worth the extra time and effort? Trust me, ive my expierencies with paint and i will NEVER EVER want to paint an engine bay. plus some ive seen have painted cables etc.

i only approve of black cars being painted a complimentary color, such as a black car going red. the black bay looks good enough to leave and you paint the jambs and trunk.

but then again im a picky bitch and i support red ludes as its a TRUE sports color to me, ot that others arent, if your not looking for that OEM flashyness of color then g a bit deeper

... i hate having a primed car.. i feel like such a ricer, atleast i dont have a loud exhaust and a big wing right? please someone tell me im not a ricer.....
