and why you. Most of the time i just a Auto Zone, Advance, Napa. w/e one had the part i need cheaper but now im going to go to O'Reilly's. They are way cheaper and have a few better brands. But if it just oil or fliter things like that i go to walmart b/c it's the same thing but cheaper.

I usually hit up Autozone because it's just a couple of blocks from me & they always have parts in stock for my ride and the wworkers there are very helpful too, but as far as like performance stuff i jgo to a shop up north of me called Autobox, peace:arms:

meh.. autozone for studs or bolts and advance for anything else. My favorite place is just a little family owned shop 2 blocks away. The only downside is their hours are pretty much the same as banks.

depends on what the parts im getting. I dont like cheap parts that break a lot so I usually go OEM for most parts and then to Autozone for oil and oil filter, very small things like that. Anything I can find myself pretty much.

well i work at advanced and i will admit we can me dick heads sometimes. its mostly when ppl dont want to listen to what we tell them b.c they think they are right but are the ones asking for help and everyone that works at the my store knows their ****. i cant say the same for others tho lol
but i had to shop anywhere else it would be o'reilly's.
autozone has a bunch of idiots that dont know their ass from a hole in the ground and it takes 2 or 3 days to get parts if they dont have them and advanced is most of the time overnight.
the discount is nice also

Going to have to agree 100% If im just doing oil not a big deal to go to auto zone. but if I need something a little more important I will go for more quality parts. Case and point..... I just did my rear main seal and I wasnt about to get some duralast knock off rear main, i went directly to honda for that part. I dont want to have to go back into that part of the motor for a very very long time.......
However doing things like clutches, plugs, filters, brakes I usually have a good idea of trusted brands; and usually for more common parts your local shops like Auto Zone or Nappa usually have good name brands for them.
Otherwise its the go go gadget internet for special orders

autozone is the best well rounded shop around me. pep boys blows so i usually get what i need for maintenance at AZ. oil, filter, etc...
Advanced all day son, people at the one near me are pretty chill, print up your CEL reading, and even if they don't have the part in stock, they get it from one of the other local branches within a few hours. But I buy oil and car washing **** at target.

I have noticed that for anything besides the basic filter stuff, I cannot find parts at any of those locations for my lude. There is one place that is about 30 miles away called Metric Auto Parts, and they are the only people that carry the more advanced stuff like wheel bearings, Hubs and driveshafts. For the basic basic stuff, O'Reilly's FTMFW!!! especially since I know all the people in the store and get most of it for free, lol
Also - I'm pretty sure that Bumper to Bumper and O'Reilly's are the same now... at least up here there isn't any more Bumper to Bumpers...maybe it's a diff. company but im pretty sure thats whats going on up here

I tend to get most my parts at my motorsports shop or online... little things I might grab at autozone. Got my last wiper blades at advance though.

Well, the final outcome of this still may not be what I go with. I'm only taking this into consideration next to who has the most stores and where they're located. If there's 5000 stores in Texas only, that won't do you any good if you're in Wyoming.

Is there any way to give the winner a gift cert. or whatever to the store of their choice? Say, if I were to win, I would want one to Metric Auto Parts, they are local and as far as I know, only in MN, and the only store in my area to carry advanced parts besides a dealer.
Just a thought...
Si Speed

Well, it's going to need to be some kind of chain. I might wait till it's done and let the winner pick where it's from though.

all i know is that i don't have an ADVANCE or an O'REILLY's around here. i'm down for Auto Zone. i'd prefer a gas car though. what does everyone else think about that?

Si Speed

we can do a gas card instead.
Shell work for everyone?
98BB6SH
07-20-2008, 01:40 AM
SHELL or HESS would be most common. if we go HESS we keep the money in the US rather then send it all over sees. just a thought!

Just a side note a lot of shells now but a 10% blend of ethanol with the gas now. At least all over Athens and about 50 miles around me. I think BP doesn't and it just as good as shell alto free gas is free gas.
Si Speed
07-20-2008, 02:43 AM
They all do the ethanol thing, just more padding for their pockets.
BP also doesn't add some of the extra detergents that Shell and Chevron do, which has actually been proven that makes them better fuels.
I have no idea what Hess is, but if the majority agrees on Shell, we'll do that.

I guess it's just hear that shell does it pisses me off b/c that all i used b/c it had the additives like u said and it does run better and cleaner. Hess used to be in the south i think the last one i seen was back in like 93. Might have seen this around Christmas time i have mine still :)

but it was the cool one with a tuck and trailer with 2 cars like this one

Well you do have a few years on me. I do remember when Kurt Cobain died, faintly. I just remember the hysteria, didn't know who he was cause my parent's are 70's music people.
Back on topic though, they all piss me off but they're a lot like the drug companies. They know the majority of us NEED the fuel to commute, same as drug companies know we need the drugs, so they think we're willing to pay whatever they ask to get around to work and buy food, same as they expect us to pay whatever they want to stay alive with their drugs. Only flaw is, they don't ave fuel insurance to pay for it like they do health insurance.

I just had a thought E you can get a visa reloadable gift card. It's like a gift car but you can use it anywhere you can use visa so you can get what ya want. Just a thought

Those things are a rip off. read the back of them at all the fees they tack on. I'd rather send someone cash, which is another though.

really didn't know that just say them at the store money order or money gram is only a few bucks but i kinda like the idea some some kinda of car stuff if we can get something donated. Maybe have a few ppl give some parts they have that they don't need any more and have like a goody bag.
Si Speed
07-20-2008, 10:42 PM
This isn't kindergarten, no goody bags.
The hard part is finding universal places instead of just h22 or just 4th gen or whatever.

Man there is a Hess station right here in Little River (at least I'm pretty sure its Hess), but there isn't a single Shell station any where near where I live. I just go to BP, I like it there.

If we do this gift card, it'll depend on how much is raised from the raffle itself. I'd like to try to get $100 to both charities. More would be great, but times are rough, and anything would help. I think I'm going to set the price of them at $3 each. Th more you buy, the more your name is entered.
Depending on what we get, there might be a 2nd place prize. What I might do is have a raffle for both, and just ave the 2nd place for $2 so you could just send me $5 and your name would go in once for each prize.
Yall like that idea or would you rather just do te $3 and I draw twice from the same hat? To be fair, whoever get's the first place prize, won't be eligible to win the 2nd place prize, even if their name is drawn. Remember, this is ultimately to raise money for the less fortunate, the raffle is just to give incentive to donate and show the world what the Prelude family is really about.
