Well my first day at the track was fun, but also very disappointing....My first run i ran a 17.9, R/T .051, at 82mph...I thought it was just cuz I kinda got dazed by the 800whp Camaro SS that just blew my doors off at the lauch, so I went straight back to the line...What do you know, a 17.2, R/T .351 at 82mph....My third run was 17.30, R/T .401 at 82mhp....At this point im so pissed man...I thought the Ludes 1/4 mile time was supposed to be about 15.4, that must be only for the 5spd...My next three runs I used the water box to see if it would help my traction at the launch, but it didnt...my last three runs were consistent at 17.2, R/T .152 at 82mph...Just to remind you my rear end is totally gutted(spare, seats, etc...) I have 17s with 215/45/17 FK 452 tires...My engine has the AEM V2, header, high flow cat, "stock" exhaust which I know didnt help any...My concerns are if this is a normal track day for an SS lude??? I made the shifts myself "on point with the redline", never got out of vtec...Is this a case of not having any acceleration from the launch??? And what happend to when you stomp on the gas the car is supposed to go up in the rpms???(especially in an automatic)...I stomped on the gas and it didnt do shiz' nit...it calmly took its sweet a$$ time up to 3k, then i started to move....any comments would be helpfull I guess...at least to help me understand if this is normal...And if thier are any questions or concerns, Ill be glad to let you know anything that I did, or did not do.....

I've not run mine at a track but it sounds about right. Unless you can get the launch RPM to about 3k then your 60' will kill the quarter time. Maybe next time see if you can hold the brake and stall it up a little? But now knowing how the standard converter will handle it I woulnd't really reccommend it.
Like I always say, the auto box's ratios are taller than most professional basketballers, and for no apparant reason.

yeah man...i just had the tranny rebuilt about 1 and a half years ago, so i wouldnt want to risk do the "power braking" and reving it up to 3k either....lol...17.2 is just so heart breaking, for a fifth gen vtec lude....

what is the elevation at the track?
also, the reason you cannot launch is because you have an automatic which has a torque converter which has a stall around 2000 rpm which will not let you rev any higher than that while you are at a stop, in gear.
your 17's dont help

yeah, thats what im saying...its mostly because of the auto tranny...and 17s or 16s really dont make too much of a difference, they only weigh about 14-16 lbs each...so they are actually a little lighter than the stock rims...unless your talking about wheel spin, maybe, but i wouldnt think it would be too much of a difference though....

they do make a difference. You lose acceleration with a larger diameter wheel and acceleration is everything.
