Then I went to the beach a few minutes on Tybee Island.

As you can always expect from a beach trip:

Then on to River Street. Google it.

If you went to the Savannah Meet, you remember this spot. There's my cousin's car:

Ah yeah Tybee Island, I was down that way sometime back in 2002. Went down to Ft. Stewart for some training before we left across the pond.

Thats an awesome beach, minus the drunk US Army Ranger that approached us because he saw our airborne tats, so he felt compelled to walk over and brag about being a Ranger. Don't get me wrong I totally respect Rangers but this guy was out there.

I'd love to go back and visit that beach someday. I don't usually travel that far south though

I love old things like that, forts, police acadamies, jails, etc. It's always good to stop and think about how far we've progressed. Even our big guns have progressed a long way from the old ones.

Yeah, it was originally the southern-most fort in colonial America. During the war between the states, that's when the damage was done, like all the missing cannons up top and the holes off the walls.
Do you have any pics, or know where I can find some of old time Australian forts? I know yall played a major role for us in WWII for refueling.
My grandmother grew up in France and told me stories of when the Nazis came through and took over her house. She said they were extremely rude and ate all their food and tracked mud in the house all the time, but never payed much attention to her or her mom because my great-grandpa was fighting. He was actually captured trying to sabotage a nazi plane, putting dirt, leaves, and twigs in the gas tank. I love hearing stories from people who went to war. It was really something hearing from him, seeing a view from someone other than an American soldier. Sometimes I go to the VA hospital here just to talk with them in the smoke pit and give them company cause several don't have any family, and have the utmost respect for people who put their lives on the line for their country.
