I recently purchased JDM headlights off of passwordjdm. I cant seem to get past the first step of removing the stock ones. I've heard you have to loosen the bumper or sompin? Also I've heard about how I'll need some type of harnesses? Do the ones from password jdm come w/these? Sorry for all the questions but I just got these headlights and have no idea where to start.

you'll have to take off the bumper to get the lights off. absoluteprelude has the best write up for installation imo. http://absoluteprelude.com/forums/index.php?act=Help&CODE=01&HID=45
you'll need a harness to convert your stock 9005/9006 plugs to take h1/h4 bulbs. you can build your own by buying parts from suvlights.com (cheap and easy to do).

wouldn't THIS (http://passwordjdm.com/product.asp?numRecordPosition=1&P_ID=1609&strPageHistory=&strKeywords=&SearchFor=&PT_ID=199) be much easier?!?!
and its only $15 too

yeah it would... if the other end is a male 9005/9006 connector. i wasn't sure what's at the other end. see, i didn't splice my existing wires. i made an adapter to go from 9005/9006 to h1/h4.

i just emailed passwordJDM asking if it had a 9005/9006 connector at the end. we'll see what they say.
if not, then i could prolly buy the connector from suvlights, and easily put it on

yup. my jdm headlights came with the h1/h4 harness. so i just got the 9005/9006 connectors and made my "adapters" by attaching the connectors to the harness.

Wow! Those JDM lights look soooooo good. I have those crappy clear corners that aren't in all of the way (previous owner), and those lights look awesome. They would look good on a silver car, too.
You guys r0ckz.

passwordJDM got back to me and told me the harness does NOT come with the 9005/9006 connectors.
so i'm sure it can't be that hard to wire the connectors up.
question: if we just want the headlights for normal hi and lo beam usage (IE, not projectors or anything fancy) then i need to buy 4 harnesses, correct?

yes, it's not hard to wire the connectors up.
if one harness is one plug with wires, then yes, you'll need four of them. it looks like suvlights.com has the adapters now. http://www.suvlights.com/product_info.php?products_id=232. but if you get their 9006 to h4 adapter, you'll lose the ability where your low beams will get brighter when you flash your high beams.

what's so great about the JDM HID conversion kits with the ballasts and all, does anyone know the affect it has on the lighting and why you would need it? has anyone heard anything about projector headlights for the 4th gen ludes cause I like the look and was thinking about ordering some from racinglab but not sure if they flush well or if they're reliable...

light output on those projector headlights stink. and you're stuck with a blue tint to your lights because the bulb you're buying has a blue tint. real hid's aren't blue tinted; they have a blue flicker.
true hid conversions will require a ballast. but popping hid bulbs into a jdm or usdm headlight is a big no no in my book. the housings of those headlights are meant for halogen bulbs... they're reflective. you pop a high intensity bulb in there, you end up blinding everyone that's headed towards you.
if you want to do hid, get hid projectors and retrofit them into your jdm or usdm headlights. the projector serves to focus your beam pattern to a specific spot... making it safe for you and the people around you. and the projectors are what gives off the blue flicker.

yea a friend of mine had projector head lights and the were a little too dim...
I wanted to buy the lights and put in HID's but keep the blue ring cuz it looks alright...but thanks on the advice...I kind of want a blue tint but don't want it too bright so I was wondering what I should get, would 8000K be okay??

8000k will be blue, yes. but also remember that the higher the color temperature, the lower your light output. something that you may want to consider when you're shopping for bulbs.

i put HID's in my JDM's, and haven't gotten flashed once for them being too bright, and i haven't even aimed them yet
i dont have any head-on night shots of them tho.
i would say there was like a 30% increase in light output.
