3rd gear grind used syncromesh, is it my short shifter adapter?

Yes I have already searched this issue a bit and found some things to try with minimal success. I have a 2000 lude with a 4th gen transmission from a 95 lude in it. I have been dealing with this pretty bad 3rd gear grind for a while now. I have changed the tranny fluid using the new honda fluid, and just recently the syncromesh. The grind was getting really terrible upshifting and downshifting even slowly. The syncromesh cured some of the problem if I shift slowly enough (which we all know is no fun), I can avoid the grind most of the time. I was wondering if it may have something to do with that crappy short shifter adapter I have on their from dc sports I believe. I have heard bad things about this causing gear grinds. I have the new pspec short shifter that I have yet to install, I am wondering if this will help. I have heard nothing but great things about the product. The install just looked too involved and I would prefer a professional install it. Let me know any input you guys have that may be constructive. Don't have the loot to replace the tranny or the synchros right now, but an lsd tranny with a better gear ratio will be in my future

Thanks

I have the Pspec shifter and installed it myself. It really isnt to bad if you just take your time and make sure to follow the directions. I am not sure about the grinding noise so am not really much help there. I was never a fan and really only heard bad things about the adapters so I would definitely put the Pspec in ASAP.

I would agree about the adapters, I put it in as one of my first mods before I knew anything and just left it. It will be coming out very soon for the pspec.

Thanks

The easiest way to find out if it is the shift adaptor would be to remove it - 10 minute job.

My guesses would be to check the clutch, but since it only happens in 3rd, possibly the synchro has gone kaput.
