Tranny?

Did i break my tranny? I just bought a 5th gen prelude (1998 base) and my transmission (manual) is having some problems it seems that it is really hard to push the gearbox into 2nd gear (clutch fully in) and sometimes when I put it in first (clutch in) it grinds.... It never used to or I might be going crazy, what im wondering is should I just get a transmission fluid change or start saving for repairs, my care has a little bit less than 60 000 Kms on it. An im wondering besides fluid changes is there any other preventative maitnence I should preform on my car when it rolls around to 60 000km?

Hopefully it's just a bad clutch or pressure plate.
Don't drive it if it's doing all that. You will tear it up if it isn't already.
At what RPM range does it do all this?

It seemd to have gone away for now no griding just a little more pressure then normal for 2nd gear but it usually happens withing the 2-3.5 rpm range or thats all i have tested it in since thats the rpms im usually at during a normal drive

I think your clutch is failing on you. Check the clutch fluid also.

ok thank you there seems to be less problems like no grinding just harder to put it into second than usual
but with 60 000km my clutch should still be good right?

change your fluid. It shoulds like a selector fork may be sticking, or it could be your 1 and 2 second syncro hub may sticking up.

If your clutch was starting to wear thing you would notice a high pedal efford for all the gears. If the problem continues I would see about getting it serviced.

Hopefully changing the fluid will do the trick for you though.

I would check your slave cylinder first, but you asked about preventative maintenance, get a clutch kit. Replace the clutch it is going bad.

Nice keep checking for leaks though. Your diaphram may be leaking in your slave cylinder.

might want to replace that sucker, I don't think they cost that much
