what can i expect from a Short Ram Intake?

Hello,
not to worry, i have used the search function, but cant find what i am looking for,

basicially, what can i expect from a SRI? i know i will gain a little HP at the top end but what about the bottom end (Torque)? will i end up loosing a noticable amount on the bottom end?

the lude is a 98 SS daily driver, will be in lots of traffic so this will be the only real performance mod. plus its a stupid SS.

would a drop in K&N with resonator removed be enough?

ps. i already have a sri (ebay) just wondering if its worth it with my type of driving.

We have dyno charts on here proving that the best intake is the stock one with a K&N drop in panel filter.

What you can expect from an SRI is a loss in total performance during the hotter weather.

However if you choose to do a little more (exhaust, header, tune) then you will may be able to see a gain with the SRI, if your tuner is clever enough to tune your engine properly.

cool, thanks,

but the dyno only uses a super short intake, the only SRI in the dyno is an AEM V2 which is actually the best one for overall gains,

http://preludezone.com/showthread.php?t=3472

the funny thing is a K&N drop in will cost more then the SRI did with s/h lol off ebay

i may drive it for a little bit and see where i keep the rpm

found this link as well, http://www.2kracing.com/information/dyno/21-406.pdf

has anyone done a write up on a resanator mode? i have seen one before, but cant find it anymore.

The best bet is to just get a cheap one off ebay and get a good filter on it. The best you will see is a few hp with just an intake.

like brash said man...if you choose to get a header, and cat-back along with a good intake like, lets say the V2, you could gain about 8whp...i did...dont have the dyno charts now cuz i changed my cat-back to oem so i tossed them...

Honestly, like I tell everyone who asks this question or similar, you're better off taking the resonator box out of your fender and using a K&N drop-in filter. It:

A) Protects the filter from rain creeping into the engine bay and when you clean the engine bay.
B) Weight reduction
C) It suck in cooler air than a SRI, which equals a healthier engine.
D) It still makes the same noise as a SRI since you removed the piece that keeps it from doing that in the first place.

You just have to get the bumper loose on that side and slide your socket in there to take out a few bolts and you're ready to roll.
