Can I remove aftermarket 2 piece headers as one piece

Long story short,

I have some crappy reactive headers on my 2000 lude right now and it is leaking in multiple places. I am going to replace them with a cheap temporary fix (looks like meagan 150$ shipped and they seem to have gotten decent review), they will do for now until I can afford the good stuff. Anyway, Some of the bolts are actually broken off where the header splits into the second piece and I was wondering if I would be able to remove the header all as one piece. I don't really feel like paying a shop to cut them off if I can do it myself without too much trouble. If I cannot remove them myself as one piece, what would be a good price to have a shot do it knowing the current circumstances.

Thanks
Steve

I'm not sure, I tried that with mine but the chassis was in the way. Can you cut it yourself? Best advice I can give you is get a shop to do it or if not try cutting it yourself, but I dont' think you can remove it as one piece.

if you cant get it off find a sawz all to borrow and just cut the header in half and pull the half of the header and downpipe down, but i think you should be able to take it down as one, theres header's that are one piece so, it should work

so, some say yes, and some say no, has anyone ever done it before? I don't really have a saw that would cut through that, I guess I could buy a hack saw to do the job underneath the car. I was hoping to be able to pull it straight out of the engine bay with the car on jack stands.

Thanks for the replies, any other ideas are welcome.

Steve

You should 100% be able to take it off as one piece...

Only thing to think about is this: On the stock H22 header there are 3 bolts that hold the flanges together, and 2 more that hold the flanges to a bracket.... those 2 bolts will have to come out...

Other than that, yeah it should all come out as one piece...

thanks everyone for the speedy replies, I will do it myself. I'm gonna buy a hack saw just in case I cannot pull it out as one, I will at least have the security that I can remove it completely and install the new one. I really appreciate everyone's help.

People need to hear it like 4 or 5 times normally before they truly believe... especially when you got other people (wrongly) contradicting you telling them they can't do something....

Not if they've been on a while and the bolts become welded to the headers (like my last ones).

take the damn bolts off the header on the head. drop the exhaust off the hangers and remove from the rear of the car. I've done it numerous times . if you don't try it within a week I'm closing this thread. The people that are arguing are annoying the crap out of me. lol

sounds like a plan, it shouldn't be too bad even If I do have to saw it. I will try your way first. I am waiting on the new header, it may be a week before I get it.
