Stock Intake Problem

So I got to get a K&N air filter and really want to get it in. I haven't worked with the preludes intake system yet so it takes me a minute to figure out how to get to it. I unclip the 4 clips, open the intake, take the old filter out, install the K&N and clamp down the 4 clips. After im done, i notice a rip in the intake tube. My first thought was wow, that sucks the big one. I tried to use some adhesive which kinda worked. Then I used some duct tape to "seal it". So what im asking is, is this ok to run the engine with a rip in the intake tube? I can get another stock tube but it would be $. Is there any other way i could fix it?

Well think about it like this man ...
Do you want to spend 20 dollars on an ebay intake now ...

or god forbid something goes threw your intake, enters the manifold and blows your motor up, and you buy a new motor instead.

Just my 2 cents. I believe it would be worth spending the money up front ... just buy an intake off ebay for like 20 bucks. take the K&N filter back to the store, and use that towards and shipping costs.

yeah, it would really be cheaper to just buy a aftermarket intake

but there shouldn't be a problem with duct taping it for now, just make sure that the tape is good before you drive your car around

don't just put like a single piece of tape over the hole either, you don't want it getting sucked in there, wrap it around a few times...

Take the resonator box out of the fender from the stock intake and it's basically a cold air intake. You can get a stock intake for next to nothing on the net. Plus the material of the stock intake doesn't hold heat like the metal intakes do, which is better for the engine when sucking in air.
You should be fine for a while but definitely get another hose asap.

OR if you want some JDM bling, buy a Type S intake. You can use the filter you just got. You can get them for about $180 new, plus they're pretty sleeperish to anyone who doesn't know the difference.

yes I did get a SRI. Had to mod it a little (using part of the stock tube) but I plan on getting like and elbow or straight pipe to make it look better. Other than that it works great and sounds pretty cool. Thanks for the tips!
