My clutch is dead...

My clutch just gave out a few days ago, i was getting less and less response and my pedal kept getting shorter, and now i cant even shift into gear, so i ordered a Stage 1 ACT Clutch kit and 9.9 Pound flywheel from Fizz in Bayside, Queens. Anyone got any opinions on either of these parts or advice on the install.

doin it yourself?
get a coupla buddies together, coupla cases a beer, download the service manual in the resource thread, and set aside a full weekend to do it.
also plan on sh!t going wrong, cuz it ALWAYS does, and to not be able to drive your car for about a week.

but there isn't any other way i'd rather do it. i aint payin $600 for a clutch job when i can do it myself.

Things don't always go wrong if you know what you're doing....If it's your first time doing it, then it'll probably take you awhile. The first time I change my clutch, it took me about 2-3 days. Now, it usually just take a few hours

You sure it isnt a master cylinder, slave cylinder that has gone defective?

Not just another clutch question....

...i always see STI's in front of Fizz. Never went inside though...

Yeah I agree... you might want to check your clutch hydraulics... sounds lost all your fluid and now your slave cylinder isn't engaging your clutch at all. Might be time for a new master/slave cylinder.

Also, I'd like to do my part in dispelling the "light flywheel = high revs" thing. I just got finished putting an Exedy Stage 1 on and a Fidanza 8lb aluminum flywheel. To be honest with you... it drives 95% similar to stock... The increase in revving effort is negligible. I can see it being a problem in all day stop and go driving, or going up steep inclines... but my car started right up, and I drove it away with no increase in effort.

i was checking out the thread that Prelude13 sent and that sounds a lot more like the problem I have than a burnt clutch, my friend says the same thing, that it sounds like my slave cylinder or master cylinder. If this was the problem how much do these parts usually go for and what's a reputable place to get a quality replacement part.

Yeah man it sounds more like a hydraulic problem then a burnt clutch... Good luck with the fix.

I don't know about the MC, but the SC is cheap if you buy aftermarket. I think you can get a Raybestos OEQ slave cylinder for somewhere in the 20 dollar range.

Installation is easy on the slave cylinder, but somewhat more difficult for the master.

I think there is a writeup on here somewhere, but I could be wrong. Either way, download the online manual and use that as your guide.

Today it was confirmed that the problem was the slave cylinder and not anything with the clutch so **** me for spending all that money on **** i don't need lol. I know Badmofo suggested Raybestos but does anyone else have any suggestions on who to pick up a quality replacement slave cylinder from? And do you think i should try and flip the clutch and flywheel I bought and use the money elsewhere or is that a worthy upgrade?
