Icon14 FX35 Bi-xenon HID projector retrofit into 5th gen!

Finally got around to trying this retrofit. Amazing results.

One of the few preludes with this projector retrofit!

Projectors: Stock 2006 FX clear lense Bi-xenon
Bezels: Acura TSX
Shroud: Custom aluminum shroud fitted to cover entire projector, molded into the reflector and all primed and painted high temp black.
Bulbs: Philips 4300K 85122+ with about 50 hours of use on them, salvaged from wrecked 2007 Infinity.

Getting these sharp cutoff lines to sit level was an SOB!

The pics:

Low Beam:

High Beam Bi-xenon FTW!

I'll add some shots on the road soon! I love them. The visibility when in bi-xenon mode makes single xenon outputs look dim! I can see at least 1/4 mile up the road when on a dark backroad!

Before anyone says it...yes I'm aware the stock FX clear lense has minimal color...I prefer the sharp beam to color any day of the week and I'm more than happy without that blue band in the center of the beam. maybe one day I'll miss it and swap in some TSX lenses but for now...these rock!

First impressions on low beam mode:

Much sharper and noticably wider low beam than TSX, similar intensity through, better distribution of light, no flare!
Every bit as wide as S2000, just less intensity toward the edges of the beam

First impressions on high beam bi-xenon mode:

I can see squirrels in the trees...1/4 mile away! 10X brighter than stock halogen highbeams...I pitty the fool who forgets to dim his high beams coming at me on a dark backroad!

Very nice. I wondered when someone would do some bi-xenons. FXs are right up there with my favorite lights. Any plans on doing them for customers or a 'I'm the originator no one else gets it' sorta thing

They are excellent projectors and now that I've done a set it really is a feasible retrofit, just takes a LONG time to do. For now I'm still doing TSX retros for people but maybe in the future I'll offer FX35's as an option for those willing to spend more for top end, Bi-Xenon! :drum:

Probably a total of 10-15 hours of work but I take my time and test fitting, re-fitting, etc takes time!

The lights aren't quite my style but the output is amazing!
The comment on seeing squirrels in the trees has me sold on doing projectors now. Since I imagine those will be pretty damn expensive, what's the next best thing?
I like my HID's a lot but I wanna see squirrels!

The next best thing to a Bi-Xenon retrofit is a single xenon retrofit plus keeping your stock, H1 highbeam. This is what I had before the FX35 setup and it was still 5X better than stock plus 10X the coolness factor of stock lights. :drum:

You can get all the parts you need to retrofit TSX's for around $400 if you shop around and hit up salvage yards and that's with all high quality OEM HID ballasts, bulbs, bezels.

I'd just keep the ballasts and bulbs I have now until something went wrong. The only thing that's kept me from attempting to do this is the fear of cracking the lights. I haven't taken a single pair of lights apart yet that didn't crack when I was taking it apart or putting it back together.

5th Gen headlamps come apart very easily but you have to heat them up in an oven at 225 degrees for 7 minutes, then use flat head screwdrivers to start it prying apart, then hold it apart 1/2" with your hand while you pop the clips by hand as you go and cut the sealant as it separates with a sharp knife. If you took headlamps apart without heating them first it's no wonder they cracked! I've taken apart at least 20 sets of headlamps without a single one cracking.

Moral of this story: Don't be skerred! Do it!

Thanks. My gas light comes on after I use just 11.5 gallons out of a 15+ gallon tank...I usually wait for it to come on to fill up anymore. I haven't messed with that maintenance light since I bought the car...I just keep a spreadsheet of all mainteance...that maint light is just an "idiot, change your oil, light"

Now THAT is an awesome quote! Hahahaha!
I think you should make a writeup on how to do it for us poor people who can't afford your amazing services... even though I won't even be getting anything close to $400 any time soon ;)

EDIT: What the hell?! There's a gas light!?!?!?!? I swear I didn't know that preludes have a gas light! For some reason mine never comes on... I seriously didn't think there was one... hmmm...

TSX are "single xenon" meaning they are only low beam...with TSX you still use your stock H1 highbeam. TSX low beam is 5 times brighter and wider than the stock low beam though and unless you live where there are hills you really don't need a highbeam...here it is, just low beam:

Well I've taken tail lights apart and cracked them. Been too scared to do the headlights since they cost so much to replace.

gots another question...

for projectors... will it work if you have two of the same side? like if you had two driver side tsx projectors, will you still be able to retrofit one of them into your passenger side light?
