vtec trouble

i have a 98 honda prelude, my vtec isnt working, its like it dont kick in, and at like 6 1/2 rpms it like hits the rev limiter, guessing its the vtec solenoid, but when i took it to a garage, they plugged it in and it read something about the vtec having problems dealing with the transmission or pressure switch, but i just replaced the pressure switch on the engine, unless theres one for the transmission or something, need some help, just a teenager, dont know much about it

How much oil you got in the sump mate? The VTEC solenoid will only activate if you have enough oil to allow it to do so.

You need to add a quart or 2 of some vtec fluid.

yeah...since vtec runs off of oil pressure, you should make sure you have enough oil to allow the vtec to run properly...ludes take 5.1 quarts...
