headlight help needed

heres my problem. my driver side headlight is aimed all the way up, while the passenger side is aimed all the way down. i cannot figure out how to aim these things for the life of me. i have a book on the stuff but its not helping at all. has anyone had to do this on their stock headlights?

look on the backside of your lights. You'll see to adjustment points. For the top adjuster, you'll need a phillips head screw driver and for the bottom, you can use a 10mm socket

do you see the little metal adjuster at the bottom corner? That's where you use the 10mm socket

the plastic wheel with the teeth is nothing but looks and isn't even really functional.

I don't even pay attention to the bubble thing anymore. You really just need to park in front of a wall and eye them out, then drive around and see how well they light up the road

cool. so the main one that requires the phillips is for vertical adjustment?

you should always adjust your headlights when installing new bulbs/HID's.

You will definitely need to adjust after installing an HID kit, unless you are looking for someone hiding in a tree.

no you wont need to readjust, your headlights aren't changing their aiming when installing new bulbs. They will be brighter and you will be blinding other drivers and also putting in HIDs into stock housings is illegal(need a retrofit or projector headlights or a casper shield for HIDs to be legal).

but no amount of aiming is going to avoid you blinding other drivers.

well i got torn apart on HIDplanet over what acuras use and wether or not they are called casper shields but long story short, its a slim shield that goes under your bulb to prevent light from shining down, in turn reflecting up and out, so you can have HIDs but they would shine up and blind people.

Its what the mercedes and acuras have that have HIDs but no projectors, the ones that you can look at and it doesnt hurt your eyes and theres no glare.

But yes HIDs in open housings are deffinitly illegal in all 50 states and unsafe.

Well I guess I must have some magic headlights or something, because I installed an HID kit without projectors and after some messing around with the adjustment they don't blind people.
They definitely don't have the perfect cut off that a projector has, or look as nice as a retrofit... but I know for a fact that they aren't blinding people.

haha unless they are pointed straight down and not lighting up the road, i hate to break it to you, but they are im sure annoying the hell out of other drivers. And regardless of wether or not your distracting other drivers, its illegal, and for a good reason.

just out of sheer curiousity, do you have a picture of your lights? id be interested in seeing how HIDs look in a prelude open housing.

I don't have a pic but I could probably take one tonight.
And I don't think you believe me but I'm pretty darn sure they aren't distracting other people. I've gotten in my friends car and I've had him drive by me with mine to make sure, because I'm not that much of a douche bag to drive around town burning peoples retinas.

I still don't get where you make the adjustments at, with the phillips screw driver and socket. Can anyone tell me where are these located at?
