Alright guys need some help with this

So i got bored..hooked up a camera to the h/u monitor..then i got more bored and decided to "hey what the hell, lets fix something" attitude. So anyway i worked on fixing my horn, you all know i had that button on my shifter..and it was cool and all but i just want my steering wheel horn..so check this out y0 lol. Anyway i popped open the middle, and there was this red wire that had a black connecter that slipped into a metal flat piece, anyone would happen to know what im talking about? i just want to know what it is.

So also anyway..after about 3hours of fiddling, i finally got it to work, i was all like YAY!!, then i was going to make a cruise video, as soon as i turned something snapped... It turned out it was the ground wire for the horn...So..bOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, well anyway just to keep things short, i just want to know what that redwire is, also now when i turn and have the turn signal on it won't shut off automatically anymore...i did take that middle screw out cuz i tried taking out the whole steering wheel but it didn budge..so idk...and the way i put the horn wire was through the left side and slide it inside from the back and ran it through the turn signal and put it to the middle of the wheel for the horns..

any help guys would be appreciated as always

what year is your car, apparently, the steering circuits are different b/w 97-98 and 99 up. can you give a little more info too? have you messed around with the SRS system? I know that is right at the same area

its a 98..when i pulled off the steering wheel (its not the same as every other 98, its like a triangular shape.) anyway when i took off the wheel cover there was a red wire connected to a silver part of the cover that comes off the s/w. and idk now the turn signals won't turn back lol

alright bro, i was looking through the service manual and i think i see what is going on here. Couple questions first, did you get the steering wheel off completely? if not, you may need to. #2, SH model? #3, whats going on with your SRS, make sure you are being careful b/c that is a rediculousy sensitive circuit and you need to have your battery disconnected for at least 3 minutes before tampering with any wires/connectors surrounded by bright yellow loom.

Ok, on with it, it looks like your Turn Signal Cancelling Sleeve is not lined up with the Cable Reel. basically, it is a disc behind the steering wheel that will fit in like a jigsaw puzzle when you are reinstalling the steering wheel. It is a different allignment depending on base or SH. I was trying to paste the picture but Adobe was being a bitch so i suggest downloading the service manual that is stickied under 5th Gen Resources. it is in Chapter 17, page 19-20. Also, download Chapter 24 for your SRS guide (This is important!). As for the red wire, I think it is the horn wire. Otherwise it may be the immobilzer wire. if you really want to know, just post a pic or let me know how what the plug looks like (how many prongs and what not). Hope this helps.

thanks bro for your help, only 1 problem lol i don't have an airbag so my srs is cut off lol. well its not a problem, but its nothing to worry about. but i completely said it wrong, i never took out the whole steering wheel, i took off the back cover, all the screws, including the big screw/nut on the middle. and as i was taking off the nut i forgot i needed one of those s/w pullers..so i just screwed everything back in..

my steering wheel is a honda a/m :
i'll take pics tomorrow also of the red wire & the inside

It was easy lol, well yesterday for somereason my horn started to just flip out on me, so i pulled off the cover..i pulled so much i ripped the horn wire (good job to me) so anyway, it was still going off it was touching some metal piece. Well short story is, i opened up the steering column, found out what you were talking about and now everytime i turn it retracts!, thanks man you really helped!
