Advise % suggestions on a tranny purchase 98 SH prelude

I've been looking for a transmission for my 98 honda prelude SH. I finally found one that isn't soo pricey, the cons are this though:

Private seller
No warranty of any kind
Reason for selling is owner blew some pistons

Pros

$700 (vs 1300- 1800, ive only found TWO different tranny's besides this one, they're so hard to find sigh)
Local Seller
it comes with the ATTs Unit, Transmission and Computer
He says he bought it because he thought he had an SH type but it turns out he didn't so he's selling it, he bought it himself for 900 but he's asking 700 cash just to get rid of it since he can't use it and needs the money

He's not giving me any warranty, he claims that it is in good condition and that theres nothing wrong with the gears, it should drive perfect he says

My ATTS light is always on and I've just recently discovered that its not supposed to be lol, so I would think if i swap all this out this would take care of all the issues, including my ATTS troubles...

Do you guys think its a good deal and i should take the risk? Or- as i was thinking before...i could wait and try to find a base model tranny, have the plate fabricated and install a base model tranny, rendering my ATTS useless though......and i would just hate to drive around being a poser :( but I do need to save money, this is becoming too expensive, grrr already got a new clutch and spent about 1200 for the setup etc etc

Go to Car-part.com and search. That was my best bet. I have a Sh Tranny but I honestly don't know if its any good. It came out of a wrecked SH that I bought a few months back. But definately look at that website I listed.

thanks alot for the info. Where was the car hit ? and are you selling it? =)(
Really if it was t-boned i don't see why there should be any tranny issues, unless it had existing problems before the accident occured.

Well It wasn't hit the person driving hit something lol. It was hit in the front. The motor was good, but the tranny I don't know about that. I have many 5gen parts from that part out left and that is just one of them I will try to get pictures of it...

I have a new transmission for sale out of my 98 prelude, M6HA tranny, I paid little over 3,300 for it with all the parts... new case, new valve body, new gaskets, new clutch plates... Will sell it for $2000, still has a 3 year warranty on it.. the transmission has around 30 miles on it I drove it from the shop to my house and it has sat ever since, you will need a new Shift Solenoid A, If you have a good one off your old tranny... mine is bad and I dont have the money to buy a new one $600 or so for a new one :/ anyway if you want pics pm me and let me know

I BOUGHT A JUNK YARD MOTOR OFF CAR PARTS AND IT WAS BAD, THEY MADE ME PAY A $300 RESTOCK FEE !!! #%#$%!
