Time for new front tires

well I noticed a HUGE gash on the side wall of my driver's side front tire. It really sucks but i gotta replace them since I have to drive long distances to work. SO.....Not really sure about what to go with but I have the stock wheels (base model) and I know I would like to get something descent while keeping it under $200 for the front pair. The only stores around here are like Big 10 Tires and a few others like Firestone. I am trying to avoid ordering since I don't want to risk a blowout while waiting on freakin Fedex.

Recommendations please?

I love My BFgoodrich G-Force Sports. Note: they are summer tires.
also use Tire Rack for Research.

But Kumho Ecsta ASX's are some of the best tires I've ever driven. Incredible traction and still not too expensive.

I guess I'm looking for something that sticks nicely but is still good in the rain (I live in Florida). I am familiar with tire sizes but I don't really know very much about performance and lifetime.

i would go for the nitto neo gens, or the yokohama s drives...im gonna get either one of these myself soon...you wanna watch out for what tires make loud noise too(like mud tires on those big trucks)...go to discounttire.com, they have a good choice of tires and reviews to let you know how they perform...

This is what I got when I needed new tires. I got them the next day after I ordered. When you shop online just look at where they are located and try to get someplace close.

alright, those s-drives are pretty sick...I think I'll go with those. I'm just gonna get the whole set b/c i'm gettin excited looking at them haha. Ok, next question (by the way thanks guys), do i need to stick with the stock size or do you all suggest going a little thinner? i think the stock ones are 50s?

I went with 205/55/15. I think these are slightly wider than stock? They looked good anyways.

stay away from Kuhmo's unless you want to die...I like my Toyo T1R's...if you're not looking to spend more than $200 you're going to be hard pressed to find something good...

I'm diggin those yoko s-drives b/c they seem like the best for the money. They are right at the top of my price range and they are also the right style of tire for the area i live in. plus they got really good reviews from what I have read.

So I guess I'll go with the Yokohama 205/50R16s. Thanks for the input, I'll put up pics when i get em.

hey i agree, i had kuhmo tires and they really sucked, in less than 3 yrs they where almost bald, low traction. Really didn't like them, i now have Dunlop tires and they've worked out pretty good, good traction too. Really nice! They're 225/ZR/40/18's, they fit nice, but rub a little when turning all the way, like in a U turn. No big deal for me though, also Dunlop is Japanese, which is great jaja...

Lol... yeah and your T1R's cost about 2 bills each.. they are nice tires.. I had them for my last set and only lasted around 12k.. but i drive pretty hard lots of fun lake roads where i live.. my newest set is Fusion ZRi.. 75 a tire shipped.. i like them so far.. about 2500 seem nice.. its still not summer here yet so i haven't been able to rally too hard and test them to an extreme

Alright I got the Yoko S-drives put on yesterday and ehh...pretty much I feel like a badass driving down the road now. I haven't pushed them hard yet b/c there is a recommended 500 mile break-in period but so far, I'm diggin 'em.
