could be true, look at hotrod, he was first owner of his car and its still in mint shape. If your going to go through with buying this, ask him if he changed all the belts and stuff water pump, tensioner, etc

It's 9 years old.
I paid $5,000 for my 98 last year at the same ago, with 110K miles, new tires, new window trim from Honda, new oil change, new t-belt, new headgasket, and mint interior. The car wasn't garaged so the exterior is a little rough but the only problem I've had was the EGR, it's been almost a year and it's been worth every penny.

find out about how well the car has been maintained. that would be the only detraction. but the cost is well worth spending for the things that need to be done

He said the only problem is a clear coating issue on the spoiler and some other spots.

Somehow in excitement I forgot to ask if any parts had been replaced.

I live in Colo Springs so I'd have to fly out.

I think he'd like to sell it to someone out of state for tax reasons.

lol now E pointed out to me that my rims wear sawed and clawed. If you look at the rims one is pointing up and the other is down. like if you had a saw blade and it was but on upside down.

Alright so I've had communication with the seller about committing to buy the vehicle.

He wants a $300.00 deposit to take the car off the market.

BUT I'm in Colorado and he and the car are in Ft. Worth, Tx.

He's given me his account and routing #s for Bank of America.

I'm worried that I will send $300.00 and just get ripped off.

CARFAX!!!! Ask if you can give the money in person....even if you intend not to, see how he reacts. Tell him you might just take a vacation. It sounds good, but transferring money with out knowing for sure it is legit it a scary thing. I have a couple friends that have gotten screwed this way. Just be careful and make sure you have asked every possible question you can.

Edmund's says that car is worth $5,530 if it is in OUTSTANDING condition coming from the Ft Worth area. Edmund's TMV is pretty much the most accurate auto pricing guide out there right now. Far more accurate than kbb or Nada.

http://www.edmunds.com/used/1999/hon...tion=vdpresult
$4,812 for a CLEAN model.

Seems close to me, I would ask him to go lower in price. It is common for a deposit payment by private owners and $300 isn't too bad. If he was going to rip you off from the deposit he would probably be asking for like 1500 or more up front.

How are you going to get the car? shipping? fly down there to get it? DO NOT make any payments by "wiring" the money (Western Union etc.). Saab2032 has the right idea, Paypal is your best bet.
