Proformance Upgrades

I Have A 98 Type Sh And It Is Quick But I Want To Make It Quicker I Want To See About 240 Horse With Out Swapping Out The Engine... It Already Had A Cheep Exhaust And Intake On It When I Got It About 3 Months Ago. I Keep Seeing That New Headers Wont Make A Difference Unless They Are Like Over A $1000. I Don’t Understand Y Not. If They Are New And A Slightly Larger Port New Gaskets And Has A Higher Flow And A Lot Less Drag Then Why Wouldn’t They Make A Difference?
What Sugestions Can You Give To Make This Thing A Beast!

If installed correctly and all, it'll add somewhere between 80-100 hp on a stock engine

Basically the standard OEM header is already a good design, so unless you're going to a full tuned length mandrel bent etc etc (the $1000+ jobbies) you won't see much of a gain.

Do your simple bolt ons, a good intake, exhaust and tune. Those little bolt ons should cost you around about that number and tend to yeild about a 25% increase over stock. Considering the stock number is 195-200HP that's a fair increase for an NA engine.

Then if you feel like it you can go cams, inlet manifold etc but this is where the money starts to talk.

I posted this in another thread that you asked about, but a majority of those "performance" headers that you are talking about are not a real big improvement over stock. If anyone tells you otherwise they are simply misinformed. If you want to buy a header, either buy the 1000 dollar custom ones, or the super cheap Megan one... The megan ones are just as "good" as the DC's and about half the price. You aren't gonna see big gains with the header unless you buy a custom one... I PROMISE.

Read around here bro... check the stickies... you'll find all the information you need.

You simply are not gonna see 240 whp without spending big bucks, period. We don't have B series motors that see crazy gains with bolt ons... we have H series motors, and you gotta pay to play bro. Our applications were tuned from the factory to sickeningly good levels... which is good, but it makes it that much harder to extract the extra power that you seek.

You wanna make real numbers? Ask ogsmakdade about how much you gotta spend to make power without boosting... it's cheaper to boost =P

look into dc or megan headers...buy a better intake...and a better exhaust system...that should increase ur hp bout 10-20..somewhere in that range
