Another problem....when will it stop??

Another problem....when will it stop??

Ok..well i decided to see how to check out my hid thing a magigy, anyway i wanted to see if i can put back the regular bulbs to next saturday so i don't get "proned" for getting stopped again. So as i was doing that i was just wondering maybe i can figure out where that wierd sound is coming from...and then out of no where, after turning on the car..i hear another noise!!!!!

#1 sound is coming from here..(new sound), and it sounds very squeaky and it sounds as if its about to die out soon..

#2 sound is the old sound before i changed everything..and now its just so freakin annoying..i know you guys been helping me out with this so thanks also in advance!



btw jayknight helped me out with the hid system, i'm very..how do you say..............mentally retarded lol..when i was looked at it, first off i cant find the plug for the light on the right HL, and how do i determine if my hid is plug in play? i know i have that silver box that connects the 2 wire's to it from the bulb

#1 is your distributor. i would think if this is making some sort of annoying squeek that you would be having some ignition troubles, but you haven't mentioned anything about that.

and #2. i'm still convinved that sound is coming from either your timing belt, balancer belt, PS belt, or AC/alt belt.

when i opened the hood i defintely thought it was the distributor but i havn't had any problems with ignition thats why i was thinking it couldn't be, but i forgot for what thread it was but someone had that problem when they had there key out of the ignition, they were able to control sunroof or power windows sometimes...i can do that, so does that mean that my ignition is on its way also?

#2..it sounds like a belt!, it sounds like something is shaking while the belt is moving..my supposed 2 week check up was due this week..anyway thanks nick!

no no, i meant problems with your spark plug ignition, like not getting spark to 1 or more cylinders.
being able to close your windows/sun roof a couple seconds after you take the key outta the ignition is normal.

you just had your t-belt done right?
what else did they do/change?

nah..they said they tried to see where the noise was coming from and couldn't determine where it was.., i just noticed something on the bill it says tensioner adjuster...is that the tensioner itself or a different piece???

pretty sure they're talking about the auto tensioner.

how comfortable do you feel taking the valve cover off just to make sure the t-belt is rubbing against the VC?

first is the wiring harness on the driver-side. follow it down to the alternator, where it splits in 2. pull the rubber boots off, and one should simply be a green connector that you unclip. the other one should be a 10mm nut. then lift the harness up and move it outta the way.

spark plug cover is 4 10mm nuts.

then pull the spark plug wires off the plugs, and move them aside.

then remove the PCV valve; its a hose running from the intake manifold to the back of the VC.

then theres 5 10mm nuts holding the VC on. 1 at each corner, and 1 in the center.

i'm pretty sure that should be it for holding the VC on.
get some flathead screwdrivers and CAREFULLY pry the VC up. be careful cuz there is a gasket between the VC and head, try not to damage that. once you get one corner started, it should come off pretty easily.



after its off, look at the side of the t-belt closer to the side of the VC and make sure its not frayed, or look like its rubbing something.

Yo nick!!, alright im most likely going to do the vc removal today to see if its the timing belt rubbing up against the vc. Well anyway i got another freakin noise!!!, alright well i remember the guy told me that when the engine heats up that #2 noise (or the problem i been having from the start) goes away..well it never really goes away. So i hate myself for doing this..but i pushed my car, did like 60 down my street, well anyway it did heat up, and the sound died down and it didn't sound as fast as it normally does.

Well now theres another freakin noise...it sounds like something is going...tick..tick..tick, any idea what that could be? My dad told me to go to the mechanic first because they said they'd try to fix the problem first seeming that we payed for the car to get completely fixed. Anyway well..i'll keep ya guys posted with there bs!, and when i get back home on how my vc removal goes!

ticking is normally associated with your head; the valves to be specific.

but yea, i'd go back to the mechanic, with your pops, and just give them HELL!!

got back from the mechanic..they said its the ''oldness of the engine thats why its making that surging noise'' and everything else seems fine, so i guess im going to take the vc off tomorrow or so, so i can see for myself, but thanks nick ill keep you posted with everything

yo i was getting that same noise (but not so loud) in my h22 and they said the t-belt is slack so it needed to be changed...so im doing that as well as the water pump and seals

thats true. also check how tight the belt is.
stretch out your thumb and pointer finger as much as possible, then push on the fleshy part in between those 2 fingers; the t-belt should be about that tight
