URGENT Help Required!!!! Broken Wheel Stud!!!!

Alright guys this is absolutely urgent! To make a long story short, one of the wheel studs on my front drivers side is broken. I bought a new one and a new lug nut. The problem is I cant remove the old one. I know it has to be hammered out the back, so I started to hammer it out, and it is hitting something and is now stuck. It is also making it impossible for the wheel to spin, which means it is undrivable until it is fixed. I think if I can get the brake rotor off I can fix it. Anyone know how to do it? Please this is so important because I can't drive my lude untill I fix this, and I know you guys will come through!

you are going to need a lift. there is a special tool that bolts to 3 of your studs and has a weight on it to remove the spindle. once the spindle is removed you can tap out the old stud and tap in the new one. you will have to put it back on the same way you removed it, just slide the weight toward the car to bang it back in. i had this happen to me, i had broken 2 studs on my front driver side wheel. i dont remember what the tool is called, but you might be able to get it rented at like auto zone, advance, or pep boys. good luck dude.

the jack stands should be good. the spindle is what your studs go though, what your rotor bolts on to, what your axle goes though, you have to remove the really big spindle nut on the axle to take it off, it will also expose your bearings.

Oh ok gotcha. So that huge nut is what holds it all on. I had a feeling. So this tool will help me remove that nut right? By the way thanks so much for your help, this is why I love this community.

you will need an impact wrench to remove the nut. then the tool bolts onto 3 of your studs, and has a shaft on it with a weight, and you slide the weight to bang off the spindle.

Oh ok. Do you happen to know the size of the nut by chance? Also when you did it, you rented the tool from somewhere?

There is a impact driver, that you hammer on and it twist just like a impact gun.
The impact drivers don't cost very much, don't know if they come in 1/2 drive tho.

Oh yeah btw I know that impact guns use air, and impact drivers are manual, but what are electric impact drivers, because ive seen some. Are they like impact guns but minus the air?

Ya people I know use them at autoXes. There vary expensive. but they work great. My guess is that they have allot of torque too.

ya its just like an electric drill but with a 1/2 drive at the end. Some use power cords and some are battery powered. they are great if you don't have a huge air supply or in the middle of a parking lot.
here is a link.

Oh haha! So the electric ones are just as good as the air ones, but minus the huge air supply, and huge price? Why would anyone use the air ones?
