Automatic exhaust blues

Hi guys,

Please delete this thread if it has been asked before.

I drive an automatic and I removed my catalytic convertor. Since then it sounds terrible, replaced it with a pipe you see, same diameter as the original system.

Now I am looking for an aftermarket system - but living in SA the import Skunk2's of this world will cost me over R12000.00

Alot of money for an exhaust header, not to mention the R8000 for the rest of the system.

I have an automatic, so what should I do to attain a low tone, deep sounding exhaust without it sounding too loud or raspy higher up the rpm.

I don't know the backpressure dynamics of the H22 so I am not sure if I can fabricate my own custom item this side.

All your comments welcome.

PS: Remember it is a 4 speed auto. This makes a huge difference in sound.

the transmission really doesn't make a difference in sound. and yes you can fabricate something. there are places that sell piping kits that you can piece together. kteller.com is one place i can think off of the top of my head. just keep it around 2.25 or 2.5. depending on if you want to do any more performance work to your car. why not just get the stock exhaust? or rather just get a new cat... unless you REALLY REALLY want something other then stock.

Well I am looking at a turbo conversion and manual box fitment (T2W4 if i can find one in good nick). So it is for the 'bigger' picture, I also enjoy a good stylish looking exhaust with a good sound.

I don't like a raspy tinny ricey sound :) it must be clean and deep.

Cheers and thank you for responding.

Its R12000 for me when the product arrives and customs has charged me and the vat has been added. So this is around - USD1,561.77

JUST CRAZY :( for a part that doesn't improve my kW that much anyway. May aswell skip it and turbo.
