Icon7 5th generation 5 spd tranny question?

I just looked at and drove a 2000 'lude. It really drove good, except going into 5th gear it would grind slightly. The other 4 gears were OK. Is this a major problem? Appreciate your guidance....

Much obliged,

jerzyjim

hey man, I read on a website when i was doing research on most common repairs to preludes, that fifth gear tends to go bad after a while, the syncronizer or gear itself wears out. Its really strange too because 5th doesn't see much action, no one "slams" into 5th gear you know ? lol, but i would say if the problem isn't too bad and you can afford in the future to fix it and you really like the car go for it just know that tranny work on imports is extremely expensive, you're looking at a 1400+ job (done at a professional dealer not Joe's garage =\ )

It is really risky taking cars that need drivetrain work because its something that is under constant use and under constant load so it can break ANYTIME.

Just be careful :)

Yeah man I found out that it was a common thing just when I informed everyone about mines doing the same thing. I kind of not a grind but more like a crunch sound tho.. Do you think by any chance Honda having recalls on this ? honestly because the post above me makes me **** in my pants
