PSPEC 5th GEN SHORT SHIFTER!?

It looks like PSPEC has a true short shifter for our 5th gens now... go here!

It was updated 1/15/08. Did any/everyone know about this already? I just found out today... What's the progress on Forbidden's?

Damn... no one is interested in this? This is like breaking effin' news lol. If I had a dime for every "Do they make short shifters for 5th gens?" thread, and a nickel for every "Are short shift adapters any good?" thread, I'd be rich... and now I post this up... a genuine 5th gen short shift kit... not an adaptor... and no one gives a flying fudge? Wow PZ... I'm shocked

Dude you posted this at like 330am!

AFAIK the forbidden item is still a little while off. But this seems good. ANy word on price, I couldn't find it...but didn't look too hard.

Definatly on the shopping list when I do my swap.

It looks like it's 220 bucks for "people on the OWL" (whatever the fudge that is, online waiting list?), and it's gonna go up higher when released to the public. And also, remember that we are in different timezones Brash, I posted this at 12:00 noon lol.

I was on the waiting list for these for like 2 months so I ordered mine the day they were released (15Jan). These new adjustable ones don't come with the shift knob unless you pay extra for it so really the weight is up to the buyer. The guy who had them made is having the first set shipped on 25Jan08 so I'll let y'all know whats up as soon as it gets to my house.

btw, I'm right there with you BadMofo...Crazy excited

I had a 4bidden on my 4g and I know the quality was as good or better than OEM so that's why I'm staying loyal. I'll pay $220 for it if that's what they ask but i"m hoping more around $160 or less.

The 4g shifter has shift length adjustable but it came a half inch shorter than stock. If the 5g is just like it then I'll be happy.

PSPEC came out with an SS a couple years ago, but they sold out and didn't make anymore until now. I have the first version in my car now and it's alright. I just wish the throws were a little shorter. Maybe this new version will be better. I would be interested in buying it for my other Prelude, but I already have a 4th Gen 4Bidden one in it

^Apprently with this new PSPEC shifter, you can adjust both the hight, and the lenght of the throws. He claims they are adjustable independently of one another... like you can have a tall shifter, with short throws, or a short shifter, with long throws, or vice versa...

I have the Pspec. It took a little more modification than the directions say, but I am very happy with it. It does have independent adjustments but no matter how you make it, they will be somewhat relative to each other. So, it took me a while of changing the height vs short throw but finally i am happy. Unfortunately, if you want both, the adjustment is kind of in the middle...If you are for a very short shift, the knob will sit very high, and for the knob to sit very low the throw is longer. BUT the short shift is VERY SHORT, and the height can be set to VERY LOW. I like it, can't see how the forbidden can be made too differently, Honda obviously designed that part of the console for one type of shifter. I have mine to where the knob sits approx 1.5" lower and I probably reduced the throw by about 40%. That would be my educated guess.

you can't go wrong with this part...

I don't see how the forbidden shifter could be any better, plus that guy likes to sling dirt all over the place at pspec...grow up man...

it's dead sexy...

here's a pic with the lowest height and shortest throw...

I like the throw to be a bit shorter. apt lude's picture shows the shortest height, but it makes the throw very long. the physics of it just don't allow both shortest throw and height simutaneously. There is a lot of variety in the available config but not at the extremes. it goes both ways, you can't have a super long shift and have the shifter sitting at max height either. I don't think it would be fun to drive at either extreme personally. Overall, IMO, highly recommended.

There is a lot of variety in the available config but not at the extremes. it goes both ways, you can't have a super long shift and have the shifter sitting at max height either. I don't think it would be fun to drive at either extreme personally. Overall, IMO, highly recommended.
when it comes to cable shifters we take what we can get
