Installing Remote Entry

My car didn't come with it... and I want it :P

Anyone know how to go about it and how pricy it can get? I'm going to be putting in a security system soon and from what I've heard, if you get a combo kit then you can use one of it's extra options for remote entry.

Anybody?

Most Security systems come with keyless entry and some with remote start.
The options would include such things as Auto window closers, tilt sensors, glass break sensors, and more and more sensors. Depending on your system you might need to add a relay for keyless but most have them built in the main brain.

But I would have to tap into the power locks lines somewhere, wouldn't I?

yep you can get them to do pretty much everything nowadays. I bought an AG two way alarm/keyless entry/remote start for about $70 on ebay. I thought I was going to be able to install it myself but its a bit more than I can chew. So if you dont know much about car electronics, go to a place where you can buy and have it installed. That can get pricey...$400-thousands. If you want to save money get a reputable brand from ebay and take it to best buy or circuit city and have them do it (even though some people say thats not the best thing to do ). I dont know how much they charge, but probably less than a small shop.

Yea you will have to tap into the locking system for keyless entry.
