Ecu Questions.
Hello! Unfortunately my H22a snapped a connecting rod and Im saving up for a new engine. The Euro R swap is only slightly more than a replacement H22a and I was considering buying that and throwing it in. I did some research and found out that people have come across headaches wiring up the Euro R ecu. My thoughts were to swap the necessary parts in order to use my USDM ecu and just use the OEM intake manifold thats on the car currently. Im wondering if the Euro R can use my USDM ecu and not throw any codes. I also understand that the Euro R has dome shaped pistons for higher compression? If that is the case do I run the risk of hitting my valves when using vtec while using the usdm ecu? Really I just want to be able to safely use the car, pass CA smog and just get from point A to point B while I save up for a Hondata. Im aware that the engine wont run right if I use the wrong ecu, but I just need it running efficiently enough to daily it again. Current plan is to swap oil pump, dizzy, crankshaft position sensor, use the USDM manifold in the meantime and use the USDM Ecu. Once I go Hondata I would then use the Euro R manifold.

Re: Ecu Questions.
You will need a different ECU to use the Hondata. There are a few options. Use the search function of the forum, there are threads on the topic.

Yeah, I'd use a P28 for the Hondata. My question is if the normal USDM P5M ecu can safely run the car so I can move it around until I get the Hondata and P28 situated. |

Re: Ecu Questions.
Chipped P28 can be anything you want - just depends which map you upload in it.
